Viewing pictures on camera

When viewing pictures from the SD card on my computer, I rotated some pictures (using Windows Photo Gallery) to portrait view but when I tried to view these rotated portrait shots on the camera again all I see is solid black instead of a picture. What can I do to view them on my camera again?

Last advice was pretty vague and not what I hoped (or payed) for. It's obviously to me that when Windows Photo Viewer rotated and resaved my .jpg pictures on the SD card, something was changed within the the the file that my Lumix camera doesn't accept. Have tried rotating in back, but with no success. What can I do?

Ekse was helpful, and I will bear it in mind for future (my comment about the vague advice was for the first response I received). Thank you Ekse.
    So...
Is there no way I can return the pictures that have already been adjusted to a format which my camera accepts? I'd really like to be able to have them on my SD card to show friends.

When you rotated pictures you changed picture size and definition, that is the reason why camera does not display them again.
If you check file size, you will see that rotated pictures are smaller than regular ones.
There is no way to get picture to original definition once you reduce it, however if you use a program like Photoshop you can check size and definition on original pictures, and re-rotate and resize rotated pictures to send them back to the camera, quality will be poorer than originals. Attributes to check are length and width (preferably in pixels) and definition, then you save pictures as best quality.

Hello,
You cannot view the picture which you have edited the view to potrait in your camera..Only a Few cameras have this facility so it is a incompatibility due to which you cannot see those pictures again..NOw you cannot view these images in you camera!!...So its always kindly advisable for you to copy the pictures from your card to your computer by which you wont affect the pictures on the card!!..thank you

Regards!!...

The windows program which rotates the pictures writes over the pictures so it cant be displayed on the camera anymore. Best thing todo is to COPY the pictures into your computer so you have the original ins the camera then you can freely rotate the ones on your pc without worrying about will they show correctly in the camera.

Thanks,
Ekse

The best way to transfer pictures from a camera with an SD memory card is to do it outside the camera. If your computer does not have an SD card reader built in, you can buy an external USB card reader for $20 or less on E-bay, Amazon, etc. Remove the memory card from the camera and insert it in the card reader. Your computer will treat the card reader and SD card just like it treats an external hard drive. Either drag-n-drop or copy and paste your pictures from the SD card file to a file on your hard drive. If after you have copied and backed up your files you want to reformat your SD card, replace it in the camera and format it in the camera, not in the computer. SD cards formatted in a computer will often not work in your camera because of slight differences in the formatting.

New computer has windows 8. can't view cameras

You didn't specify the make and model of your camera so I'm assuming it uses a memory card of some type.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.
