Thanks! I just bought a Toshiba L305 with the DVRKD08L Drive and had the same problem of non-recognition. I followed your recipe, which was simple and clear, and it works just fine now. Thanks a lot, Tmyers! You saved me a lot of lost time, energy and possibly money!

Hi,
With the Toshiba Satellite L305-S5907 Laptop, you can put a 500GB hard drive and up to 2 TB hard drive. The only requirements are to make sure it has a SATA connector and is 2.5" Size. These are very common and easily found online. For example, here a 500GB one that is compatible that I found: Click Here.
Hope this helps. If it does, please accept and rate the solution! Contact me with any more questions you may have. Thanks for using FixYa!
Probable inverter board failure; this supplies high voltage to the fluorescent back light(s).

The first characters of your model number - L305, are the most important, the others detail items such as CPU, hard drive, etc.
You do not need the exact part number, your laptop came with a 160GB 2.5" SATA drive.
Any 2.5" SATA laptop drive will fit and work with your laptop. A 500GB drive can be bought for £30.
Take a look on Amazon.
If you want an exact replacement, take your old drive out and search on google for the model number it will have on it
