I have qty 2 IC-V85 handheld radios i just purchased new. One of them is working as planned testing136.000. The second one shows transmitting when i push the button but doesnt transmit?

At the Factory, they program test frequencies into the radios. They may or may not transmit to each other out of the box. They assume all radios will be read, then programmed properly. The test frequencies may not even be the same. Never transmit from the charger. All kinds of bad things can happen. Glad to answer more questions, but first, what are you using them for?

How can you test a band radio earpiece cord

An earpiece cord often breaks internally. The test is to put it on a known working radio and see if it works. If so, then you test the audio jack on the radio, which is better left up to a service shop. I assume you are using a cord with the correct Motorola pins and not trying to "make" something work. The make idea is great, but often ends in disaster.

Battery does not seem to be holding charge.unit is about 3 years old time for a new battery? Is there any way to test for this

Rechargeable batteries typically have a 2-year life expectancy. The only true way to test the battery is to run it on a battery analyzer/reconditioner. This would test the battery when put under a load. However, with a three year old battery there is really no reason to test it, just replace it, it is due.

Best regards.

T5100 manual, where to find it online? How to test

Here is a link to the user guide http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T5XXx_User_Manual_E.pdf

The best way to test the unit is to try it with another known good radio. Program the two radios to match one another and give it a try. If the radio has been stored in dry conditions for an extended period of time, and now has new or fresh batteries, it should work.

Best regards.

How to test for dead zones

What you are referring to is a site test. What you will need depends on what you are wanting to achieve. If you are looking to check the range of 2-way handheld radios at the location, you will only need 2 to 3 handhelds and an action plan for testing. If you are testing for frequency, RF, inner-mod, repeater or trunking set-up, etc., you would need more equipment. In most cases, your local radio dealer will do a site test at no charge, and will also have the ability to show you your problematic areas, plus offer solutions. If you have more questions please repost, and we will try to be more specific. Best regards.
