Question about Dacor CM24P

Dacor coffee maker

Hi, I see you have a Dacor coffee maker. I had one installed about 8 months ago (CM24P) and I haven't been too happy. I've had a number of problems and the user interface is very confusing, but my biggest issue is that the strength of the coffee varies from cup to cup and I can't seem to make the adjustments described in the manual. Any ideas?

thanks so much for your fast reply. i'm so disappointed in this dacor coffee maker which was a centerpiece in my kitchen overhaul last year. i'm going to get rid of it, just need to decide what to replace it with. i was in australia last week and i visited a home where they had a miele installed coffee maker which they had for 10 years and just loved it. no problems at all, and when there was a minor problem 10 years into ownership, miele repaired it for free!

I have had mine for 6 months, it has been in the shop for 4 of those months, now it needs a new boiler, before it was the grinder, it leaks inside my just keeps steaming. There is no cremma on the esspresso, and it is never hot enough, i can stick my finger in the espresso and the coffee. The temperature is set at 200, but a thermometer says its 110 wonder it makes no cremma...They told me to leave it on all day....UMMMM no, my cabinets were about to combust after a few hours. This stupid machine is the centre piece of my very expensive kitchen....I have got nothing but the run around from Trail appliances in Calgary...I hate Dacor and I hate Trail.

I have this coffee machine too and I'm extremely frustrated with it. I'm experiencing some of the same problems... the strength, temperature, over-heating, etc. I've had it for about 2 years now, and for most of that time it's been requiring service, waiting for a part... just plain NOT WORKING. The grinder has been replaced twice already, and the current service technician is saying it's shot again! I've heard good things about Miele's version, and am kicking myself for not going with that one.

How did anyone get Dacor to buy back their machine? I can't even get them to acknowledge my problem most of the time! I have had the same problems as everyone else here and I, too, remodeled our kitchen around this machine! I was told by the last repair man that it needed to be serviced and "cleaned" by a professional every three months. No Way! We have been unhappy with this machine since ti was installed in January 2007. I would be very interested to know how someone got Dacor to buy back their machine.

My machine keeps burning out the main controls. I'm on number 3. I owned the machine for about 2 years but it may have worked a total of 6 months. Dacor stop making this cofee maker for a reason....Maybe if alot of us get together and go after Dacor we have a better chance to get some if not all are money back.

I would be very interested in everyone getting together to see if we could get somewhere with Dacor. A repair man just left my house AGAIN and I still do not have a working coffee maker. I have been trying to get this fixed since February -- several techs have been out and do not know what they are doing. I was assured that they had figured it out and $495 should take care of it . . . Well, I was shocked to see what the $495 paid for this tiny filter and tubing -- and of course, I still do not have a working machine. Enough is enough. In the two years we have had this machine, we have had about 3 months of decent coffee. I don't know how to go about "banding together" to get somewhere with this company, but it sounds like it is becoming an issue that warrants legal action.

Welcome to the club of unhappy Dacor coffee machine owners. The problem you are having is the problem everyone has had. The only thing I can suggest that has worked most often for me is not leaving the machine on for very long. I think the temperature gets messed up if it is left on too long. I just use mine now for a few cups in the am and then I turn it off. I've been so frustrated with it that I have gone back to my french press. One of the posters on this site actually got Dacor to buy her machine back. I will probably try that route as well. She replaced it with a Meile and is very happy with it. Good luck!

Owned our machine for three years. Nothing but problems, and has not worked for a year now.
Problems the first year under Dacor warranty period:
Machine had small fire in the wiring. Dacor replaced the unit, but took three months of phone and service calls before we had the new machine.
Problems with the second machine included:
Board burnt out twice
Solenoid valve went out
Boiler went bad
All were replaced and repaired by Dacor, but not without much hassle and constant phone calls.
Most disappointing was I always assumed we would be able to purchase from Dacor their "Dacor Ease" extended warranty, and even if the machine was problematic, at least know that Dacor would stand behind it. NO, they quit offering it and again our machine is broken. I am very upset at Dacor for not taking care of their customers on this one with a fair resolution. We are open to a class action lawsuit or ??

I am in the same situation. they replace the first one because the temperature probe broke after 6 months of usage. i got about 14 months out of the second one which has now been broke for 3 months and no repair in site. the warrant people are slow and do not care about customer satisfaction.
If we could get a class action suit i would join.
FYI Electrolux is now marketing the same machine

I had the SAME problems with my Dacor coffee maker. I am LIVID!! And would welcome a class action lawsuit. Anyone know how to get it started?? Let's get moving on it! This company cannot just get away with this and then start marketing under another name?!?! That's just wrong!!

I picked one at my local hardware store. We have a VERY good store and that has basically everything. Take the part with you to a similar store or a bearing seal place.

Dacor CM24P will not dump coffee?

I have the same problem and a technician came in to look at it today. I need a press assembly unit (I think it runs about $600). He said it could simply be caused by using "sticky" coffee beans. He ran the machine, holding the door closed button with his hand so we could see the machine run it got stuck every time like it was moving through tar- even after cleaning. I'm looking at about $300 of labor and a $600 part. We ought to file class action suit against Dacor. My machine has never worked properly.

Dacor has a set up on their web site (see link below) that lets you enter your information (eg. postal code) and then looks up the closest repair/ parts places. Note if you want parts check the box that says you're looking for parts.
