Question about Black & Decker 19" Electric Lawnhog Mulching Mower with Rear Bag

1 Answer

Rechargeable lawn mower lacks power even with replacement battery. Six or seven year old rechargeable Black and Decker 24 volt mower. Replaced the battery last year after it became unable to mow my rather small suburban yard without a overnight recharge in the middle. New battery will last 3/4 as long as when the mower was new. Blade may be out of balance, but could the engine need repair, such as new brushes or something to get the full effect of the power in the rechargeable battery? http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-bin/bigimg.cgi/blackdecker/cmm1000_type_4 http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-bin/schematic.cgi/blackdecker/CMM1000_TYPE_4

My Black and Decker 19' Lawn Hog will start then stop. It has full power when it is on then it just stops. The cord seems to be working. The mower is 10+ yrs. old.

You should check your on/off switch, that might be the problem. You can get a replacement switch for under $15. I had the same problem, this is how I fixed it. I used the part no. 681064-01N. Good Luck!

Black & Decker Lawn Hog 19" Mulcing Mower MM875 won't start

The rectifier is a flat plate with 4 posts that attach the electric wiring inside. You will need a flathead screwdriver to remove the four screws holding down the cover on your mower. on top where all the wires run (you will probably see one burned) There is a screw in the middle holding down the plate, you will need to replace the plate and resplice the wires that may be burned.

I have the EXACT same problem with my mower. I called the Black & Decker number listed above, and learned that the mower is under recall for this problem. So call them and find out where the nearest dealer is, and they will fix it for free.
