Make sure the firewall is turned off on your router or find out what port number you need and open it up using the router admin.

Trying to port forward a web port, media port, and phone port to an ip address for security camersa

1. Select Port Forwarding/Port Triggering under Advanced in the main menu.

2. From the Service Name list, select the service or game that you will host on your network. If the service does not appear in the list, see the following section, "Adding a Custom Service."
3. In the corresponding Server IP Address fields, enter the last digit of the IP address of your

local computer that will provide this service.
4. To the right of Server IP Address, click Add. The service appears in the list in the screen
To define a service, game, or application that does not appear in the Service Name list, you must first determine which port number or range of numbers is used by the application. You can usually determine this information by contacting the publisher of the application or user groups or newsgroups. When you have the port number information, follow these steps:

Adding a Custom Service.
1. Select Port Forwarding/Port Triggering under Advanced in the main menu.
2. Click Add Service (see Figure 5-1 on page 5-7).The Ports-Custom Services screen displays.
3. In the Service Name field, enter a descriptive name.
4. In the Service Type field, select the protocol. If you are unsure, select TCP/UDP.
5. In the Starting Port field, enter the beginning port number.
• If the application uses only a single port, enter the same port number in the Ending Port
field.
• If the application uses a range of ports, enter the ending port number of the range in the
Ending Port field.
6. In the Server IP Address field, enter the IP address of your local computer that will provide
this service.
7. Click Apply.

I want to know how to forword port. I use D-link DWA-125 Wireless Adapter. I want to create DOTA(being a host). How can I do it?

Hi,
If playing DOTA is the reason why you want to forward a port from your dlink router, I don't think that it is going to be necessary.
To be able to HOST a game in dota, you need to either be in a network or in a virtual private network.
LOCAL HOSTING - this means that you are hosting a game to PCs connected to your LAN under the same router. All you need to do is go to Local Area Connection in Warcraft TFT then create the game you want to host. If your friends is not able to see your game, make sure that your windows firewall has Warcraft TFT in its exceptions. Or you can turn off windows firewall as a workaround each time you play DOTA.
VPN HOSTING - this means you must have a specific software to use to host your DOTA game so friends can connect to you even if they are not under the same LAN or router. Best example of a software to use is GARENA. Garena is a vpn software that allows you to connect to players around the globe. You need to register a username and password to use garena. Download and install Garena to your computer. Login using your username and password to use garena. Once logged in, choose the room you want to host your game for. Choose the one under your current location (e.g. Choose Singapore if you are in Singapore). When you connect to the room, click Start Game to start your warcraft. You can HOST dota games by going to Local Area network in Warcraft TFT and create your game with a valid dota map. Same in LAN, you need to put Garena on the exception list of your firewall for people to see your hosted game.

Hope this helps.

I have no problem connecting to web. My dgl-4500 shows all gaming ports timed out. Poor game performance.

Hi jwm5001,

As a fellow MMORPG player (am on WoW), i feel for you, esp if you pvp. I know what you're going through so allow me to offer some views on this. Try disabling all other gaming ports and only select the one that you are using. Also pls do the following (although you might know this already):

1. Click on Start, run
2. In the Run box enter this command: cmd
3. A small DOS black screen should have popped (this is known as a DOS Prompt screen). Enter these commands: Ping www.yahoo.com -t or alternatively, you could find out what the gateway address of the gaming site that you play is and try pinging that suing the "ping www.(address of gaming site here).com -t
4. The above command in 3 would signify your signal strength and also see if you're timing out when connecting to that particular site.

Overall, maybe it's just lag (server client lag) or a port based lag (for that MMORPG), or realyl crtappy intenet connectivity. General rule of thumb is:

Anything that times out, is bad
Anything that has a TTL of more than a normal range is bad
Anything that says destination host unreachable, is really bad!

So, yeah, try it out, lemme know any updates, stay cool aight?
I hope the above information helped. Please do let me know if there are other queires regarding this. Also, pls remeber to vote for me if you find this solution useful. Thank you.

Technomancer

Would like to host a game thru my motorola modem/router

You need to look for something on your router called Static NAT and configure it to point to your internal IP address.  You also need to find out what ports your NASCAR game advertises itself on...it's usually high ports (20000-30000).  ONce you find out the port(s), you can create a custom service on your router for those ports, and when you configure Static NAT, it should ask what 'service' you want to advertise.  This basically tells the router to forward all inbound traffic, looking for those particular ports, directly to your IP address, which will allow users on the Internet to see your game server.
Cheers!

Belkin 54 g wireless router....cant find on the net. need to port forward to host blizzard.net games HELP!

Make sure your private IP address is statically set.  Your public IP address is obtained from your ISP and is what other users will be connecting to.  You can not manipulate your public IP address so if your ISP is running DHCP, it is very possible that your public address is changing.  Also if you are frequently disconnecting your modem, it is possible your ISP is leasing you a new public IP address each time.  So try to keep things as static as possible.  As far as the battle net stuff.

Diablo, Warcraft II Battle.net Edition, and StarCraft:
Allow port 6112-6119 TCP and UDP out and in
Diablo II:
Allow port 6112 TCP out and allow established sessions in
Allow port 4000 TCP out (realm games)
Allow port 4000 TCP out and in (hosting open games only)
Warcraft III:
Allow port 6112 TCP out and allow established sessions in
Allow port 6112 TCP in (hosting custom games)
Allow port 6113-6119 TCP out and in (hosting custom games if you've changed the default port in the Options/Gameplay screen)
If you are still having problems after you open up the required ports, try opening 116(TCP) and 118(TCP). I don't really know if these ports are required or not.
I have had people tell me that opening up those two ports have helped them connect to battle.net.

Hope that helps.  For manipulating ports in your router I suggest consulting your user manual, or online FAQ.  Save your router config before applying any changes, and always remember, opening up ports subjects you to different types of security threats so be aware that is a risk you are taking.

Networking issues

Hi gymny,

The best connectivity in hosting application is using virtual ip network. Normally DHCP always changing IP in everytime your computer reboot or shutdown.

Hope this will be helpful to your problem.

Port forwarding problems, playing Total Annihilation (TA)

I think you may have to find out the port used by the game and set that port to be allowed access against your specific pc IP address in the virtual servers menu in your routers settings.
