Same problem as described (On button flashing, hourglass displayed, loud clicking noise - stops after a while, none of the other buttons work). I've nothing in my print queue. This problem started after i had to switch off/on a fuse to change a socket in another room.

Step 1. Disconnect the printer from the computer.
Step 2. Take the printer on top of a tall building.
Step 3. Yell, "I can't take it anymore!" while a crowd assembles.
Step 4. Chuck the printer off the building.
Step 5. Let out a big sigh of releif.

Some time ago I've visited a forum and found a solution that tells me to clean the mirrors of scan and other stuff
but EVERY TIME that power supply goes off it didn't turn on again and I need to open the scanner and roll the gear so with that the scanner goes to the middle of the page and try to turn on again
after a few tries the printer turns on again and I can use it...

I had this problem for the second time due to a power cut. It was solved by
Turning the printer on, letting it load up, do all the clicking, once that had finished then press the power button to turn it off.
Leave it for 5 mins, then turn it back on, this time it should setup as normal.
Hope this works for you!

The clicking is the scanner seeking the index as part of the power up procedure. Search the hp site for the procedure to clean the scanner glass, Pay particular attention to the white strip, which is which is the scanner index.

I have a Lexmark E360d and every time I print it beeps. How do I turn that off?

Quite mode OFF is the default factory settings. To reduce noise produced by the printer, quite mode need to be turned ON. This will reduce the amount of noise but this will set the printer run at half speed.

To do this click on Menu Button > General settings> Quite Mode> ON and then press the check button to submit.

For further assistance, please contact Lexmark Technical Support.

HP Deskjet F4240 Printer & when I turn it on loud clicking noise

Try the steps given in the below document.

Also try the following resets and check

Perform a partial reset

A partial reset will return user settings to factory defaults. On some models, language and country/region settings are also reset. Perform a partial reset of the product by following the instructions below.

* Unplug the power cord from the unit.

* Reconnect the power cord into the unit.

* When the lights begin to flash, press and hold the On/Resume and Paper Size buttons.

* When only the On/Resume light is flashing, release the buttons.

* When the On/Resume light is steady, the reset is complete.

When turning power ON, a clicking noise coming

Sounds like the scan assembly is worn out. If you lift the cover where you lay a copy and watch the scanner after youpower up, you might see the scanner just clicking back and forth, which means the lamp is worn out or dirty. Repairs in that case are more than the machine is worth.

Epson Stylus Photo 1270. All lights flashing. Whats wrong and how can I fix it?

Hi Guys
I had the same problem with all lights flashing nothing working, happened after a panic power shut down. As with peter after the paper button was released, printer lit up like a christmas tree again. I played around with the button combinations and found that holding down the ink button instead of the flashing paper button cleared the problem. Great tip guys saved me a lot of money. cheers me dears clive.

Flashing green orange power light, clicking noise

I still have my problem, I'm waiting for my son to arrive in March, he has had extensive expeirence with such things. I have been advised by the locals to buy a new printer as fixing will cost as much. I have had my machine for 4 years and it has had very light use and I like it and hate to scrap it for a likely minor problem. How many years can you expect to get from this printer with light use? I don't want to spend more money on this machine, if I am going to have to buy a new one soon anyway.

Clicks and In Use/Memory Button is flashing

You have the phone line plugged into the wrong jack on the machine. The line from the wall should plug into the jack labeled "L". The other jack is for a telephone or answering machine.

Ink cartridge changed but computer will not recognize it has ink

Please try the following in an attempt to resolve this issue:

1. Make sure the unit is turned on, and not printing. The POWER light should be on, but not flashing.

2. Lower the OUTPUT tray, and lift the scanner portion to access the ink cartridges.

3. Press and release the INK button.

4. Open the CARTRIDGE COVER. Pinch the front and back tabs of the first cartridge, and remove it from the printer.

5. Place it back into the holder. Push it down gently into the holder, until the cartridge clicks into place.

6. Repeat steps 4-5 for each cartridge. Close the CARTRIDGE COVER once all of the necessary ink cartridges are re-seated.

7. Carefully lower the scanner, until it clicks into place

8. Press and release the INK button.

The ON light flashes and the printer makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the ON light stops flashing and stays on steady.

CAUTION: Never turn off the printer while the ON light is flashing, unless the printer hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

    Printer makes clicking noise

Make sure the printer is not out if ink. When the light flashes this may be the case. Also check the print queue. If it contains pending print jobs and there is no paper the light will flash. Here is how to check print queue: Click Start > click priters and faxes > double click printer icon and see if there is something ... If you see any print jobs delete them right away. and restart your computer. This should solve your problem.
