Dell m5110 laptop won't charge new battery and ac adapter is not recognized in bios

Try another AC cord/charger with the EXACT same specs as original. Is the battery a genuine Dell battery, if not return it? Some aftermarket laptop batteries don't play well with your computer, the pin-out connections aren't correct and MAY be a fire hazard.

I have a sony VaIO laptop model PCG-3E2L, and i have notice that it has been turning off by it self. i checked the ac adapter, and its ok.

The heat sink may be clogged with dust and ifthe BIOS temperature sensor controls the fan speed then it may be compensatingfor the reduced cooling by the dust build-up.
If you are not using your laptop on a flat surface, it may beobstructing the cooling vents on the bottom of the laptop. Your laptop fanmay be faulty and not spinning freely, in this case replace the fan.
Check the fan and heat sink assembly and remove the dust, loosen the dust anduse a can of compressed air to clear away the dust. A laptop fanassisted cooling pad may solve your problem

At first the computer would shut off after a few minutes, but now it will not turn on at all. I have verified that it is receiving power. Any ideas?

Battery is dead or dying. Replace it.
AC adapter is not plugged in. Plug it in.
AC adapter has failed, Replace it.
Computer is overheating. Use compressed air to blow dust build-up out of vents and fans.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Power soft touch power switch not working

I am having this problem and found info on another forum saying that the switch is located just above the fan, which causes dust to build up on it.

I had the battery not recognized on boot up. then

the Dell AC adapter has a sensing pin so the bios can determine the wattage of the adapter. If the system cannot ID the adapter, the battery charger circuit is disabled. You'll need a functional DELL ac adapter to get the battery to charge

I can not start my laptop.

Try removing the battery and try it just on AC.

What happens exactly? Does it turn on but nothing happens or is it not even powering up at all?

If it doesnt power up at all then try another AC adapter.
