In my opinion, you need to confirm your camera 1st by attaching it to another PC in USB. If USB port of camera itself got damaged or defective, you will not get any response from PC because of incomplete connection.

Try downloading the latest software for your camera from canon's web site and install that one instead....

turn your sound up on your laptop and connect the camrea. you should hear a sound and a yellow information bubble should come up in the lower left hand corner of your computer.

if this does not happen than your computer is not recognizing that you are plugging your camrea in. also make sure your camrea is on and on the pc mode.... try this and let me know

3.see if your camrea shows up on it... it will either show up as your camrea or it might show up as removable disk either (G) or (H)

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Can't download pics from sd to camera

Goto any radio shack and get a external memory card reader this will allow you to get your pictures if the camera or cable is defective.

Canon SD100 Powershot Can't download pics

You may have accidently removed the photo programs you were using. Check to see if the software programs are indeed still on your computer by searching by name. If it or they are there , open one of the programs before you connect the camera and it should automatically download.

If they have been removed use the disc that came with your camera to reload the software program.
