Question about Weather King Air Conditioners

1 Answer

Replacement Repairs My air conditioning unit is slightly less than three years old. It quit working so I called the business that installed it. He found that there was a blockage in the necking device on the evaporator coil increasing liquid pressure 40 PSI. I feel that, in as much as this is within a sealed unit, it is a manufacturing problem, not one due to my environment or my doing. It is a very expensive part to replace and I feel that there is some responsibility on your part for this problem. Please respond.

Most units have a 5 yr parts warranty but you would be resposable for labor.

Unit 4 yrs.old..many service calls.lasst one the serviceman said a wrong fan motor had been installed. had to replace the compressor!

I have NEVER heard of any manufacturer having LESS than a 5-year manufacturer warranty on ANY HVAC or HEATING Units.

I'm almost certain YOU did not replace the motor. I'm assuming a certified HVAC company installed the motor AND the compressor??? If so, you need to take all receipts to a local Department of Consumer Affairs Office for your city/county/state and file a complaint/lawsuit against the company who is at fault. Or, you may need to consult a local attorney to represent you in court against the dealer. If so, you will need to complete a Bill of Particulars against the dealer/technician.

I had a very respectful small appliance business here in Virginia Beach, specializing in the Installation/Service/Repair of Air Conditioning and Heat Pump systems.

I have seen SO many homeowners blind-sided and mislead by dealers and HVAC Technicians. Many companies are out there to make a quick dollar. I've seen it too many times.

I was born and raised on a farm in Northwestern Pennsylvania where my grandfather and father taught us how to repair what we possibly could in order to keep equipment/systems running and keep costs down on the farm. I was taught to be honest and sincere. I retired from the U.S. Navy in 1991 after an honorable 21-1/2 year career. I just recently retired from the U.S. workforce. It makes me sad to see honest folks taken advantage of by dishonest business associates.

Good luck with this, sir.

Some of the new style Air conditioners have a auto time delay built into them for power failures. If power fails or you unplug the unit, they will not come back on for about 3 to 5 minutes. This is a safety feature to keep power failures from damaging the compressor. Keep it plugged in for 5 minutes and try again. If still no go then call for service. You should have a 1 year warranty on it.

We have recently had three problems with our three year old Carrier 24 ACA airconditioner that I believe has led to it no longer producing the low temp. chilled air it did when it was installed. !. water...

Your air temp should be at least 20 degrees cooler than the indoor air temp. This is ideal. But it sound like your unit is low on freon. When units get low they will freeze up. They will also freeze up if air flow is restricted on the inside coil or the fan quits on the external unit.

DeLonghi Pinguino PAC CT90 It is less than a year has quit coolin

Read instructions and see if it says anything about cleaning or filters. A.C units **** air in and there is a filter that probably needs cleaned. Also, while cooling, the vent to the outside should put out warm air. Also, if it is less than a year old, contact the manufacturer and they should help you out. Good luck.

Unit quit looking for same trouble free quallity

your not going to find it.

21 years ago these units were built with better quality in parts, design, and overall construction.

Nowadays, its all about speed and quantity. I would recommend you calling a local dealer and looking into the higher efficiency systems. Yeah is a large expense up front by will pay dividends in the long run.

And if there is an option for an extended warranty up to or exceeding ten years, don't leave home without it. Best investment you could make.

Goodman AC unit - fan starting outside but not getting cool air.

set the thermostat at alow temp normaly after few minute the compressor and the fan will start , if are stying off check control signal is energising the compressor relay if ok check the relay coil; if all are ok ncheck the capacitor then check if the air is still hot means the charge of freon is less and also before charging check the leak

WHEN THE HEATER COMES ON THE FAN STARTS INSTANTLY AND BLOWS COLD

Do you have a heat pump? If so this is normal. You are probably used to a gas furnace. There are heat pumps that do have a delay though. Look on the circuit board in the air handler. There may be a set of pins that say 0-30-60-90 yours may be at 0. Also some digital T-stats offer that function for delay off to get the extra heat or cold from the system. Find out what the model number of the air handler and call the Goodman supplier in your area to see if you have these options.
If you have a gas furnace and it's not delaying the blower there is definately something wrong.

Air Conditioner Blows Warm Air (or at least not cool)

When serviced by a qualified service tech who finds and repairs a leak before recharging a system it is not illegal. However with the age of your unit you may want to balance the possible cost of a new unit against the cost of repairs to the old one. After repairs are made to an old unit you still have an old unit.
