Model S718 doesn't come up as a good model number. What did you want to know about a red light?

It's a Solution HEPA 700 S5 Model S718. Stopped working and the red (overheat?) light has come on. Have left to cool down but light still on and vacuum not working.

Miele S514 Turbo red light on. Dismantled and cleaned. Motor checked and no resistance. Circuit board? Can it be be replaced or by passed?

If there is a circuit board between the cord and the motor it is certainly replaceable. Unfortunately my suppliers don't have schematics for the Miele models. You might try the Miele website, if there is one, or call your local repair shop to see if they service them. Sorry I can't be more help.

How to disassemble my Miele s718 vacuum

Large grey capacitor (if the same as my S571) should have a value of 0.22uF/275V but if you take it out it will have its value printed on it.

The red filter light will not reset after replacing the filter on my Miele S5980

Hi There, I actually did a repair on this problem only a couple of weeks ago. The problem could be that the small lever that pushes on the reset button on the circuit board is bent or broken. The little button costs about $10 from memory and certainly a whole lot cheaper than the board itself which is $234. Just to clarify in my case there was nothing wrong with the board, I was able to manually push the reset switch on the board and replace the tiny lever and problem was solved.

My Miele upright vacuum will not start. The red light will come on but not the motor. Why is that?

I believe you should have an amber light, if you are seeing a red light located above the bag compartment door, that indicates a fault with either the electronic module or the motor. Unless you have a voltage meter and are familiar with pulling plastic tabbed appliances apart, I suggest you email http://www.mieleusa.com/emailtomiele/emailus.asp?nav=&snav=&tnav=&oT=66 or call direct. Our vacuum (a miele S718) has cut out.

Probably WAY too late to help you now, but may be of assistance to others (I repair appliances): Several times, I've had Miele Vacs which show the red light, but the motor never powers up. If the vac was working perfectly before, 98% it will be a bad solder joint on the Motor pcb. Although it varies per vac: Remove the bag & 4 screws around.
Unclip & remove lid (flex off pivots), then remove centre screw. Lift off control panel. Remove all other screws under the control panel area.
Lift out motor & unscrew motor pcb. Turn over & inspect for any black joints - repair as ness. Reassemble in reverse order - note: difficult to locate top cover back on if lid wasn't removed, as lid power connection can interfere. Hope this helps...

Will it power up without the hose attached? If it does then you have a clogged hose. If not, there is a circuit board by the motor that may be bad.

S718 doesn't come up in the Meile parts list, there is a S518, some possibles to check: The switch part #04367102, Indictor lite w/pot. # 05482010, Reel cord 05240302, and motor electronic control # 05408620. Any one of these could be giving you the problem you describe. You will have to dive in and starting with the switch, and eliminate which ever parts seem ok. The reel cord could have bad internal contacts, I have had the pots go bad, but the electronic control more ofter. Which I could pin point it for you.
