Humming noise & color changes picture flashes from red to green

My 62hm95 has been making a humming/buzzing noise. It also occassionally makes loud grinding noise. Today it flashed color changes red to green. I can easily replace the lamp but don't know if I also need a color wheel and/or fan (motor)?

Just returned from vacation to find that my 52HMX85 makes a whirring noise when I shut it down. The picture starts to flash colors after about 15 minutes of use and slowly deteriorates to black. Finally the red and green indicator lights start flashing and the TV shuts off. I assumed it was the bulb so I changed it. However, after about 15 minutes, I started to notice the same problem with the new bulb. I switched back to the original bulb and sure enough it worked... for about 15 minutes. I have a feeling that the whirring sound is a bad fan and the deterioration of the picture is therefore a heat issue. I plan to contact Toshiba tomorrow.

We have the same problem. Our 62hm15 has been buzzing for about a 8 months now, I did call the service technician out right away. He told me it was the DMD fan and the light engine needed replacing. The cost of this would be $1,600. Not worth it to us. I called Toshiba but our 1 year warranty had expired less than 6 months earlier and they were not willing to help. Our t.v. went out today about 8 months after the start of hearing the noise. At least we learned one thing through all of this....never to buy another Toshiba. They are junk.

Your color wheel is going out and needs to be replaced. Toshiba does not list a part# for the color wheel. They expect you to have the whole light engine rebuilt. You should be able to find one on ebay. Or other sites like that. Good luck to you.

This is typically your color projection drives going out. Soo the picture will go black and white, and the hum will prosist.
It is cheaper to replace the set than it is to replace the Red, Green, and Blue drives; and then have the set re-aligned.
Unless you have a family TV repair guy or know one that loves food! :)

My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?

TV makes humming noise, lamp light is blinking, does not turn on

Your color wheel needs to be changed. Mine just did the same thing. I changed mine, and the buzzing sound went away, however now my picture washes out with light or yellow colors. The darks look green and purple also.

No pic...humming noice on 62'' toshiba dlp

was the lamp blown if it was blown you could be hearing the ballast
if the lamp was not blown and the new one did not fix it the red light indicates the door there is a little switch when you put the door back on if you look at it it may need to be adjusted so it will connect with the door if that is not it you could have a fan that is not turn if it is making a real loud constant humming noise while it trying to fire the lamp you probably have a bad color wheel

Toshiba 56HM195 56 in HD DLP Loud Buzzing and color distortion

If the sound, sounds more like a Hum with some vibration chances are the Cooling fan located behind the lamp is going bad, about $20 to repair, if its a high pitch hum most likely the Color Wheel and if thats the case about $30.
Good luck, my fan just went bad now seeing green dots everywhere, so debating on just junking it out or fixing it, with winter coming on might just breakdown and buy LCD and say the heck with DLP from now on.
Good luck to you..
