Hi,

Generally this happens if one of the shift key is pressed down. Make sure that non of the shift keys are pressed down.

If you want to check if it is driver issue, then you can try reinstalling the Keyboard drive from the below steps:

1. Click Start and choose Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
3. Go to Hardware tab.
4. Click Device Manager button.
5. Click the plus (+) sign next to Keyboard to list the keyboard drivers.
6. Right-click one driver and click Remove. At the warning prompt, click OK.
7. Close all windows and restart the computer.

On restarting the keyboard driver will be loaded automatically. Also once do Virus scan with the antivirus installed in your computer.

If the issue persists, then once turn over the keyboard apply some pressure at the bottom of it and check for the issue. You can do the same even if it is laptop.

If the issue persists, then its time to replace the Keyboard.

I can`t get any upper case functions to work on hp 2011 keyboard what key do i press

1.Make sure the "Caps Lock" key is not on. Though this will be obvious to most people, if your keyboard is typing in only upper-case letters it can't hurt to check. Look at the "Caps Lock" indicator light on the top right corner of your HP keyboard. If the light is on, strike the "Caps Lock" key on the left side of your keyboard. This will turn the "Caps Lock" off, allowing you to type in lower case letters again.

2.Make sure the "SHIFT" keys on your HP keyboard are not stuck. Dust and dirt can build up on a keyboard over time, which can cause certain keys to stick. If either of your keyboard's "SHIFT" keys get stuck, your computer will type in only capital letters. Use a toothpick or cotton swab to remove the gunk from the key, which should help it return to its normal position.

3.Unplug your HP keyboard and then plug it back it. This will remove the device from your operating system and then automatically add it back in. This can have the same effect, essentially, as restarting your computer. If your keyboard was typing in capital letters due to an error being stored in your operating system's memory, that error will now be cleared and the HP keyboard will function as normal again.

4.Update your HP keyboard driver. Click "Start" and then right click on "Computer." Click "Properties" and then "Device Manager." Right click on the listing for your keyboard and then click "Update Driver." This will update the computer software that is associated with your HP keyboard. If your keyboard was typing in all capital letters as a result of an error with this driver, the error will now be fixed and you can use your keyboard normally again

WHEN YOU PRESS THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON YOU HAVE THE CHOICE OF UPPER AND LOWER CASE LETTERING BUT THERE IS ALSO AN ARROW BUTTON WHICH IS TURNED OFF AND I AM NOT ABLE TO TURN IT OFF IT SEEMS TO HAVE REVERSED MY...

Hi,

That UP arrow refers to an UPPER CASE letter. If ever you press the CAPS LOCK key, it should turn off, if it does not it means the CAPS LOCK key for some reason is stuck. Try restarting the computer and by then the CAPS LOCK should be disabled.

Please let me know if it helped by selecting YES. Thank you for choosing FixYa! Your rating will help me succeed and continuously help a lot people.

Hello, When typing on my Mo Droid if I want my caps to stay on how do I get that to work.....I tried holding it down but maybe I am not doing it properly?

If you are typing using the touchscreen, the upper-case arrow, touched once, will upper-case the next letter you type and then back to lower case. It you touch the upper-case arrow twice in a row, you should see a green light come on directly over it. That keeps the caps lock on.
If you are using the slide-out keyboard, touch the upper case key once and you should see a triangle underneath the cursor on the screen. That will upper case the next letter you type. To get it to stay in upper case, hit the upper case button again and the triangle should change to a > symbol, point up, underneath the cursor. That should keep it in upper case mode. Don't hold the upper case button down, as that won't do anything. A third press returns it to normal (lower case).

I HAVE A LOCK WITH A NUMBER 1 ON AND CANNOT USE MY LOWER CASE KEYS> HOW DO I UNLOCK WHATEVER I HAVE LOCKED?

try pressing the caps lock key once, if still your caps lock key does not respond then possibly the key is stuck, try backing up your data first do a system restore when you think you can still use lower case on your keyboard then check if there will be changes, if still no changes occur, a long shot would be re imaging windows back to defaults again make sure you back up data first the then try again once windows is reinstalled if no changes then your keyboard works but the caps lock key is busted ^_^ I do not see any other option for the caps lock key to be troublshooted. ^_^

My shift key is not working properly in my Keyboarding online class. It gives me an error everytime I try to key in a capital letter. i have changed keyboards and it still does the same thing.

When you say it gives you an error, do you mean an actual error message, or the lower-case letter?

I have no idea what your experience is, so I'm asking if you know the difference between the Caps Lock key and the Shift key? The Shift key has to be held down while pressing the other key, eg h key to get H.

Pressing the Caps Lock key locks into upper-case, SO YOU GET A LINE LIKE THIS until you press it again.

Keyboard stuck in upper case

Is the caps lock light illuminated? If so, you might have to hold shift and hit caps lock to turn off the caps lock. This is an option for old typists who came from manual typewriters that you might have turned on by mistake.
