I have the 50v500 the power, heat and lamp lights blink at the same time upon start for about a minute then the engine shuts down afterwards the only light remaining on is the lamp light. There is no sound or picture just the motor or fan noise when I turn on the tv .. Tech said it could be the ballast or the temp gauge after a brief examination of the lamp. No major diagnostics have been performed.

yes that's exactly what is happening to my TV

Hi. I have the same problem as this. TV powers on, both fans come on briefly, and the bulb comes on also. Screen flickers for a moment, then everything powers off. Once off, the TEMP light blinks. I have replaced both fans, and also replaced the Power P.W.B. board. What should I look at now?

    Thanks for any help!!

HHMMM...I would like to update my problem, I hope that by doing so it will be easier for one of you experts to help with this problem.

When I turn it on, all of the LED's turn on, but in a few seconds when the TV powers itself off...the green LED at D913 stays on. All of the others turn off. It will stay on until you unplug the power from the TV.

    Thanks for any help!!

Hello Ecollier2012,

I have a Hitachi 60v500a with that has that same type of problem (comes on briefly then shuts off), and the green LEDs on circuit board light up for a few, then turn off (except D913, which stays on), would one of those repair kits work for this unit?
Which board is the blown cap & pico fuse on?

Thanks!!

If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.
Here are the symptoms...

Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off.
Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.

Hope this helps,

I have the same problem as above. I have a Hitachi 50SBX78B and it was working great until some water from the plant on it got into the screen. Now the red light comes on for a split second, then goes...

Unless the main board is checked the damage to the board cannot be accessed. so open out the set and check on for any failure of fuse or fusbile resistors that could have opened out with the water shorting.
If water is still found use a dryer to warm off the moisture.
It area of the water spill must be checked for the possible damage

Hitachi model #60SBX78B

The green led or lights on the board indicate some of the power supplies are working. The key is do you see any come on and then go out. this would indicate which part of the power supply is failing. also there are fuses in the set that do not look like your standard glass fuse. WARNING television generate lethal voltages that will hurt you. extreme care should be used.
