ITunes problem with Acer

Tried to download and install iTunes 7 onto Acer and I get an error message that says "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program and then contact the software developer". Why on earth isn't the Acer operating system compatible with the most popular freeware available on the planet? Any ideas?

Also, when I tried to load a printer driver, the CD drive stopped working. Any ideas here?

I have a new dell laptop with vista and cannot install itunes - it freezes and comes up with an error message.

What does the error message say? Post the exact contents here.

Just in case, check to see if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit by going to computer properties. Make sure you got the correct version of iTunes for your computer.

Check this Apple support page for more information.

I tried to download the latest version of itunes but for someone it wouldnt download and now my old itunes doesnt work either. When I click on itunes to open it up, a message box pops up reading...

It sounds like the download removed the existing software.

I would open control panel, then click add or remove programs, then click on itunes. see if there is a repair option with the installer. sometimes there is, but if not, then uninstall it, but keep your saved files.

Then re-install it, and when it sets up, it should still accept your old saved files. That way you don't have to recopy you music, games or videos

The 'error 2" is saying that when you clicked on the icon, there was no file remaining in your system that matched what the program was that was assigned to that icon.

You can find out what the program was, and its location by right clicking on the icon, and then click on properties.

I think Steve is correct, it's sounds like XP 64 bit or a Vista issue.
