Need OS for Thinkpad iseries laptop

I have a used IBM thinkpad Iseries which someone gave to me. The OS was removed, as it was a compnay computer.

All I need is a CD with an OS to install. I tried making one but failed to get it to work.

Can someone tell me step-by-step how to make a CD with Windows 2000 OS for this laptop?

Thanks!

Welcome to fixya

to be honest you can not make a OS disk you will have to ask around and see if anyone you know has a windows 2000 disk and try to install theres in your laptop or go to a store and buy a OS it is not cheap to buy so i would suggest to see if anyone you know has a windows 2000 or any windows disk for you to install it

and if you go somewhere and have them do it wil cost you a few bucks

hope this helps you out

Probably you can get these kind of batteries either through online or nearest store like Walmart, Bestbuy or Radioshack...

IBM ThinkPad iSeries 1400 LCD not functioning

I am afraid you are correct, your laptop screen is not usable and unless you’re a trained professional I do not recommend trying to repair the monitor itself. In fact, to do so would be rather dangerous to your own well being, but you do not have to throw your ThinkPad away. You could continue to use it with the external monitor or you could send it into Dell and pay them for a replacement. Look around though, there are probably other people who could provide this service for less, beause large corporations usually charge you more than necessary.

Iseries thinkpad

try hooking it to an external monitor and see if it works. If it does then you need to check which part is bad.Possible defective parts in order of the cheapest is :inverter card, then LCD Cable, then LCD Display, then system board. If it does not work with external monitor then try drivers or system board because the video is built into the board. If all else fails I will buy it from you if the price is right.
