Normally there is an INPUT button on the remote control or on the front of the TV itself.

Just push that until it shows VIDEO 1 or something to that effect on the TV screen.

Power up your DVD player and make sure it is hooked up to the correct input connectors on your TV and then play a disk in it.

You should see the video displayed on the screen, and if not just push the INPUT selector button repeatedly until you get to the correct input mode for your DVD player.

Good luck.

What channel does your television have to be on to watch through your DVD player.

It depends on the type and age of your TV. Most older units work on either channel 3 or 4. You may also have a switch on the DVD player that allows you to chose channel 3 or 4.

Most newer units have an "input" selection that allows you to select the signal you want to receive such as, DVD, Video Game, Cable, TV, etc. My newest DVD player only comes with a HDMI cable that goes to my TV and automatically switches when playing.

A lot of options depending upon the model and age of your equipment.

I am unable to record digital tv channels on my LG RC389H dvd recorder. I have a new tv with a digital tuner and have hooked them up but unable to view any digital tv on my LG player only the old analogue...

The RC389H is only deigned to receive standard TV signals, not digital. If you are routing through a straight cable line you usually can't access anything above 100 if you don't have a digital tuner. Try using a cable/satellite box if you haven't already, this bypasses the requirement for a digital tuner because the cable/satellite box has one of it's own.

Sound but no picture!

This is a normal, input board defective (as switch module inside betwen tv signal and the AV1,2,...) normaly is video chip defective. You need to send tv to repair shop, to check and repair.

Note: Check for tv picture signal, for quality, normally this circuit when defective, changes the quality signal (first some colours level, sync and then totaly defective is a dark picture)

Hi just got a LG dvd/vcr Model RC897T. I have it hocked up right, but i can't get it to switch over so that it would be seen on the TV. can you help

If a cable box is not required for cable signal reception, connect the cable line to the ANT. IN connector on the recorder.
If a cable box is required for cable signal reception, connect the cable line to the IN connector of the cable box. Connect a coaxial cable from the OUT connector of the cable box to the ANT. IN connector of the recorder.
To view or record a CATV channel:
  1. Tune the TV to the Recorder output channel (CH 3 or 4).
  2. Set the Recorder channel selector to the cable output channel. (Example: CH3).
  3. Select a channel using the cable converter.
With this connection, you cannot record one program while viewing another. If you are using a cable box to tune channels, it is not necessary to do Auto Channel Set.

Once connected, with a Samsung TV, you need to press the SOURCE button on the TV remote control to view any external sources such as your DVD player.

The ‘NO SIGNAL’ message would indicate there is no signal, if you have not tuned your channels in, this may be the digital tuner you are viewing. Press the source button whilst a DVD is playing in the DVD and see if an image displays.

How do you hook up the dvd player to the tv with a vcr hooked up to the tv

Leave the cable box powered on but disconnected from the TV or VCR. All other components should be disconnected and unplugged, giving clear and easy access to all connections. If components sit in an entertainment unit, make sure all A/V cables can reach the RF modulator and the cable from the modulator can easily reach the television.
  • Step 2 Hookup the first coaxial cable from cable box output, usually labeled "TV," "TV out" or "Out to TV" to the cable "In" on the VCR. Connect the second coaxial cable from the VCR's out to "TV" to the coaxial input on the RF Modulator.
  • Step 3 Connect the third coax cable from the coaxial cable "Out" jack on the RF Modulator to the coax cable "Input" on the television.
  • Step 4 Take one A/V cable, connect the red (right audio channel,) white (left audio channel) and yellow (video) from DVD player's "Output," to the corresponding DVD "inputs" on the RF Modulator. Place components as desired but still disconnected from power. Plug in all power cables including the RF Modulator's into the surge protected outlet strip.
  • Step 5 Make sure the Channel select switch usually found on the back of the VCR and the Channel select switch on the RF Modulator are both set to Channel 3. This channel is used on the television to view your components.
  • Step 6 Turn on the power strip and turn on the TV. Cable reception should come on as usual. Set the TV to Channel 3 and turn on the VCR. With VCR on test it by playing a video tape. The RF Modulator should sense the signal and automatically switch to "VCR."
  • Step 7 Switch off the VCR and with the television still on channel 3, turn on the DVD player. As the RF Modulator senses the DVD player signal and switches to DVD, its welcome screen should be seen on the television. Play a DVD to test and once you're done with the DVD turn it off and the cable should come back on.

SONY DVP-NS57P does not display video

If your TV has no input selector but has a video input, the TV probably "hides" the video input between the lowest channel on the tuner and the highest channel. That means if your tuner goes from channel 2 to channel 119, the video input will be between 119 and 2. The best way to see if this is the case is to slect channel 2 and then use the up/down channel selector to go down and see if you find the video input. Let me know if this works!
