You may not likely find/get the activation code(s) for your map(s) since your map versions are quite old ... current map versions are 920... Your other option is to purchase a current map from TomTom.
You can go to tomtom.com (and if you haven't registered your GPS device, register the GPS device (on tomtom.com) against your name, etc.,) and purchase a map (of your choice). With this purchase, you will download the map (software and data), and an activation code to validate the map. After that you should be able to use the GPS device (for the purchased maps).
Activation cord is in the freshmaps activation card that comes with purchas of device. It is on the back of the card remove plastc with nail and you will get 15 digits number in 3block with 5 digits each.
For whatever reasons the Map you are currently using is considered not to be duly registred to your specific device: if you are the original purchaser of this device and map, then you can contact TomTom Support with your original registred account and purchased details and request for the ativation code/key (for your specific device id and map) to be sent to you.
Alternatively, if you made a 'working' backup of your device using TomTom Home, then you can always restore the original system and map from the backup copy.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.
As long as you can see the software on the list of Maps, you'll be fine. It wont show any maps right now because there are no European maps for your present location, you need to be in Europe for the maps to show on the screen.
Unfortunatly if you have deleted everything and do not have any backup then you will not be able to restore your TomTom to working condition.
If you do manage to copy or obtain SD card with files / maps then you will need the origonal product code and activation numbers in order to activate the maps. TomTom home software might restore some of the files needed but you will still need Maps and activation for the TomTom to work.
The unit comes with a base map. You will need to purchase City Navigator software if you want more detailed maps which will show all roads. If the box contained a copy of the City Navigator and you threw away the code, you'll have to purchase another unlock code from Garmin.
You could probably just manually delete the Canada/USA maps from the device, and copy over the europe (or whichever ones you need) to the device.
Just plug it in, and view the memory like a normal usb drive..delete the old, copy over the new.
Don't forget to use tomtom home to backup your gps device to your computer first (thus saving your canada maps for later..)
Afterwards, you would probably have to go into your preferences and choose the europe maps.
