One of my speakers is making a scratching noise when both the positive and negative leads are plugged in. both the cabinet and amplifier are parallel. I've cleaned the whole thing in and out and it's still happening. What can I do?

Having only one speaker that sounds scracthy tells me that one or more of your drivers are blown, the tweeter, midrange or full range drivers (speakers). have you swapped the leads @ the amplifier to see if the scratchy sound moves to the other speaker? if it does, your problem starts before in the pre-amp stage. if it is the same speaker you can isolate the problem by swapping indiviual drivers with the good speaker, or you can cover individual drivers to determine where the scratcy sound is coming from. it could be the surround ( the rubber or butyl material that attaches the cone to the frame) is rotted from age. which can be replaced

VR3 200 AMP

Looking at this picture you can see the terminals at the top.
This installation has one speaker hooked up on the right, and the power inputs hooked up on the left.
The inputs will be power on the left, 12 volts positive (V+); a signal wire for to power on the amp that's 12 volts positive too, (V+, It's usually a yellow wire that comes out of the car stereo called To Antenna, or To Amp. and the third connector on the left is a Ground, or 12 volts Negative (12-). Look for the labels V+ and V- to get the power connectors in the right places. (I can't tell from the picture which is which)
On the left side is the Speakers, Each speaker has a positive and negative lead, and the terminals on the amp are labeled Left + and Left - and Right + and Right - .
Align the speaker leads to the terminals (in cars a negative lead usually has a stripe running along the length of it, and a positive has no stripe).

On the other side of the amp are RCA sockets, one red one white. Any low signal can plug into these, from an Ipod to a turntable. Your car stereo, or EQ, will have RCA outputs that can connect to these with an RCA Patch cord, which has plugs on both ends that will fit into the RCA sockets. Whatever signal goes into the RCA inputs is amplified out of the speakers when it works.

On 2001 Crown Vic, radio lights are on, channels change, etc but no audio. Fuse issue or any other possibilities?

sounds like your speakers aren't connected properly. check your speaker leads coming from your radio and make sure they are positive to positive and negative to negative. if you're using an external amplifier, check your RCA cables and your speaker outputs on the amp. make sure thr remote turn on lead is connected, otherwise the amp won't even power on.
hope that helped, good luck

Hotrod amp is distorting on the clean channel once it goes past 3,is it a speaker problem or is it tubes?

to rule out the speaker, you could try one of 2 things.

1. remove the speaker from the cabinent and gently push the diaphram in 1/2 an inch to 3/4 an inch, as far as it will gently go- BE GENTLE. the speaker should recess and return to normal position smoothly, without any scratching or rubbing, or internal resistance., the only resistance should be from the paper cone itself, not internal to the speaker. if there is any rubbing or scratching from the inside (inside the area surrounded by the magnet), or any changes in resistance (not smoothly moving) as the speaker goes in or out, then the voice coil is damaged.

2. find another speaker of suitable wattage and ohmage, and disconnect the hot rod's internal speaker, and hook the replacement speaker up in the internal speakers place. a speaker of 50-100 watts should be suitable, and it will probably need to be 8 ohms- a standard bookshelf speaker may be suitable if it is a suitable wattage and ohmage rating (stamped on the back of the hot rod's speaker magnet and/or on the back of the external speaker/cabinent as "8ω",) do not, and again, do not, under any circumstance disconnect or connect a speaker while the amp is on, or even plugged in. touching the positive and negative speaker leads together, even briefly, while the amp is powered will fry the amplifier circuit, and you will smell it!!!

Tweeter works but not the woofer

Take out the woofer (disconnect it from all wires). Take a 9V battery and connect two leads to it. Tap the positive lead to the positive on your speaker while touching negative to negative. You should see the woofer move a little and make a little noise. Don't do it for longer than a second or two or you can burn up your speaker. If it doesn't move or make a noise, your woofer is blown.

How to wire 2 opti1533d by lanzar with the optidrive 2000d amp? how do i wire them if i put 1 amp on each sub

your speakers are 1 ohm per voice coil, dual oice coil. your amp is no lower than 2 ohms stable mono.

the proper way to wire this so that you do not burn out the amp is to run the 2 vioce coils in series. run the positive lead from the amp into the positive lead of one of the voice coils, then run a jumper wire from the same voice coil's negative lead to the same speaker's 2nd voice coil's positive input. then run from the 2nd voice coil's negative back to the amplifier's negative speaker lead.

you will be running for each speaker/amplifier set: amp + to terminal set 1 +, terminal set 1 - to terminal set 2 +, then terminal set 2 - to amp -

Peavey PR10PN Powered Loudspeaker

you mean a series connection, I'm assuming that you are connecting two speakers to one channnel (the right or left ) of the stereo. you take the positive and the negative leads and you put one on one speaker and the ohter on ther other speaker, positive (+) to positive (+) and negative (-) to negative(-). then you simply connect the 2 leftover connection of the speakers together with a wire. Be carefull though becaus if you do it wrong, it could short out your stereo or it will sound really bad...

Connecting speakers to amp

Your Amp will be having a pair of Phono / AUX input sockets at the rear. Connect the two Red and White cabbles from the Turntable to these sockets. I am unaware of what are Pilot Speakers. regular speakers have a dual colored pair of cables coming from them. they have to be connected to the speakers Connectors at the rear of the Amp. Play a Vinyl Record, select Phono on your AMP, and enjoy your music.
