The FixYa GuessYa is that you want to program the extensions on the spare buttons on each phone. The 12 left side buttons will let you do that, the 12 buttons on the right are pretty much worthless, but this is a 77xx series phone, right?

To program extensions on the left side, label the strip, then press PROGRAM the button and dial 1 + extension and STORE. Keep doing that until you run out of buttons. If you slip and accidently reassign a line button, those are programmed with 0 + line number (1-8 in a TA series) STORE.

Pick up the handset and drop it back down when you're finished to exit programming. In a TA-824, there's a programming tool that let's you do this from a computer and copy buttons, but most of the time it's a lot easier to just do it by hand.

Oh, one more important thing. Read the buttons before you start programming over the top of them. That keeps silly things like VM-Transfer and CID-functions intact.

the rating that was given to me when I warned you that it was a guess as to what you were trying to do did not make me happy at all.

So, why not erase the rating and tell me WTF you *ARE* trying to do. Trust me, I can program your phone in less than 2 minutes with the instructions given above since you only have about 9 usable buttons. I have 6 phones on 3 different systems within 6 feet of my workstation. Two of the systems are Panasonic and 2 of the phones are 77xx type. That means the guess is based on the fact that I have installed Panasonic products since 1984. If you make an effort to actually look at the system the phone plug into, I can get you a user manual that describes all the programming of phones, but not with a 1 star rating.

Programming an extension

Of course not. That's what the USER manual is for It's filled with step by step instructions for programming your phone. Some of the programs are set up at installation, some are user programs.

PANASONIC KX-T7731 PHONE I HAVE MY EXTENSIONS PROGRAMMED BUT I NEED TO CHANGE THE NAMES FOR EACH EXTENSION AND I CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW. THE PREVIOUS SECRETARY HAS BEEN GONE FOR 3 YEARS BUT HER NAME STILL...

I"d start by pressing the Caps Lock button on my keyboard to ask a question and use that key marked Shift to capitalize the first letter of a sentence and proper names.

Extension names are programmed in SYSTEM programming. Access to that is done from the phone connected to the first extension in your system, usually 101, with a system password. In a TA Series, it's program 604. In some others, it's program 004.

The extension names can be changed in admin programming from a predesignated programming phone. Typically this phone is the attendant phone as in ext 100 or ext 101.This phone needs to have an LCD screen.

1) Press <program>
2) Dial **1234(1234 is the default admin password)
3) Dial 004 for Ext name programming
4) Press <enter>
5) Dial extension number that you want to change name of as in 102
6) Enter name (20 characters or less )
7) Press <enter> to store
8) Press <end> or lift handset and return to cradle to end programming session

I have panasonic kx-t7730. How to set the intercom name and number?

Changing the name and extension number can be done through system admin programming from a phone extension allowed by the class of service assigned to that extension by the phone system installer. Typically the attendant phone is allowed this ability. From the programming phone press **1234(1234 is the default password) to access programming. Once in programming dial 003 for extension numbering then press . Enter the current extension number of the phone you want to change followed by the new extension number then press . Lift the handset to end programming. Access programming again by pressing **1234. Dial 004 for extension name programming then press . Enter the new extension number you programmed then enter the name for the extension. Press then lift handset to end programming.

It is possible that your phone has not been assigned an extension number, in that case system installer programming would need to be accessed to assign the port an extension number. The port number the phone is connected to would have to be determined. This could require tracking the wiring back to where it is connected into the phone system. If this is the case I advise calling a qualified service technician.

How do you program a Panasonic KX-T7730?

I assume that you want to program the extension names.

If you are using the KX-T7730 phone on a Panasonic KX-Txx 308 or 824 system. From the Switchboard / Main telephone ( usually ext 101, 10 or 9 ) with the handset on the hook/cradle press PROGRAM * # followed by the system password ( default is 1234). Now press 604 and then SP-PHONE. Enter the jack number you wish to change ( 01 is extension 101, 02 is extension 102 etc. ). Enter the name ( basically the same as texting on a cellphone ). Press AUTO DIAL / STORE to save your change. To go to the next extension press SP-PHONE. Don’t forget to press AUTO DIAL / STORE to save your change after each name entered. Press PROGRAM to exit program mode and you are done.

Program manual

Your phone will work on a few different Panasonic phone systems. If you are looking for manuals on KX-T7720 and KX-T7720 all you will find is a user guide for the phone. You need to determine the model number of your phone system before starting to look for a programming manual.
