How long should a battery last in these? Don't want to buy one if thats not the problem. When I charge and remove cable then start it says to reinsert tape or reattach the power source. Although it makes all the right noises its as if it cant open due to lack of energy. Do you think it is a different problem? Sometimes it gives a code starting with 30 on screen. I don't really want to buy a new camcorder but if its a major problem it could be as cheap. If I have to go this route I don't know what model I would need to buy! Thanks

Try taking out the battery and plugging in the charger with no battery. That did it for me.

SOURCE: "Re-attach the power source" but tape is stuck, door open

I had the same problem. First, depress the reset button, located on the camera body (where the LCD screen closes over it). It is hard to see at first. It is important that the camera be set to the OFF position. When the camera is whirring after the reset, then hit the EJECT button so the tape comes out. Take the tape out and insert it back. That's it. My camcorder worked fine and let me record or plaback once I followed those steps.

SOURCE: Reinsert cassette

I've been researching this for hours. I have the same problem. Took it to a repair shop today that would charge me $250 to replace the whole tape mechanism. Finally, I tried the whack trick. I gave the camera a good firm smack on the right side, and voila, now it works! I'm going to tranfer everything to DVD ASAP!

SOURCE: HDR-HC1 Sony camcorder- reinsert the cassette error message

Bill,

The problem is with the S-reel. Take the tape out, remove the battery, and give it a slight bump. This usually fixes the issue for a couple of weeks. I haven't heard of any permenant fixes. I took my cam into circuit city (before they closed) twice for the same issue. Very frustrating when you don't know what the issue is.

What cause the car want start even if u jump it it just cleick

Start with the basics, here. Check that battery cables are not loose and are CLEAN, on the battery AND the starter. Beyond that, check the battery charge with a volt meter. Fully charged should be 12.5 volts or higher, you will lose starter spin at 10 volts. If the battery is low, hook it up to a charger and charge it up completely. If you don\'t have a voltmeter, go to the store and buy one. If you\'re going to try and fix things like this, you have to have one. If you can\'t do that, remove the battery and take it to someplace like AutoZone. They will charge and test the battery for free. If you can\'t take the battery out, or don\'t have a friend that can, have the car towed to your mechanic.

Here\'s the thing- I can\'t tell you exactly why, but some cars you just can\'t jump start. Happens more on side mount post type batteries. Because you can\'t jump your car doesn\'t mean it won\'t start with a fully charged battery. Now there are other things that could be wrong with you car, that it won\'t crank over and start for you.....but we begin the diagnosis with the battery.

Nokia lumia 800 won't hold charge

First you would need to check the connectors on the charge cable and if its still not charging, then do a hard reset which means totally power the device down and then power it up and then try and charge again. Your charging cable might be defective. You can remove the battery go to bottom of device, remove memory card, then use a small screwdriver. But I would first try the first two steps because removing the battery on this device would require you to dissemble the whole device

Battery charger reads battery full when dead

The battery is no longer good. You will need to buy a new battery. Don't over charge your batteries. They all vary. Expensive cordless tools will come with a charger that shuts off automatic to prevent over charging. I own cheap Skill drills that has served me well. These batteries lasted over 11years. It makes no sense. They should not have lasted more than 5 yrs., even 2yrs. I make sure I never over charged them, but they should not last that long. Freaky. Your battery is dead forever, sorry. I have others just like yours waiting to be recycled.

Travelmate 290 works with AC, but fails to charge the battery

Possible broken laptop batteries. Acer Trafelmate 290 (year 2003 production), has a battery that can last 3 years (source: CNET Reviews). So it's possible your battery damaged, due to age factor.

The solution:
Alternative 1 (battery removed)
Turn on the laptop without the battery

Alternative 2 (insert the battery)
Because the battery is damaged and causes an error if installed, you must remove the gold coating on the battery. The battery, there is a thin plate-shaped connector, gold-colored. Remove the layer of gold, to disable the battery. So the battery is installed without the connector.

Alternative 3 (buy a new battery)
Price of new battery, $28.89. You can check at Amazon.com

My laptop battery says consider replacing the battery

Hi,
Windows 7 on laptops continuously monitors the charge holding capacity of the battery and starts warning well before time (when the charge holding capacity of the battery decreases below 40%). The battery may still capable of holding charge and will give good back-up, which means you don't have to replace it (not at least now). However, you may replace it when the back-up time would decrease considerably.
If the battery is still providing backup, you can turn off the message by clicking the notification icon and turning off the notification (un-check) as shown below: -
creativetech_54.jpg
You may like to refer to Article from Microsoft for further details
Please note that upon every charge and discharge the charge holding capacity of the batteries decreases and ultimately battery becomes dead and needs to be replaced. To enhance the battery life, it is recommended to run the laptop on AC power adapter (if it is available) and in case of AC unavailability, don't drain the battery completely. Use the laptop on battery power only when extremely necessary.
About buying a new battery, I would suggest that the battery may be bought from authorized dealer of the manufacturer or any computer store but most importantly, I suggest that you buy a new genuine battery (not any replacement), as genuine battery would last longer and serve you best.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

How do you know if you need a new starter and not selenoid or alternator?

Alternator has little to do with starting. The alternator job is to charge the battery. If it is alternating (making power) the battery is charged. Check with a volt meter - should be a minimum of 13 volts up to 15 volts at the battery when the engine is running. If it is not providing power, the alternator may not be putting out. However - big however, if the battery is dead, the alternator cannot make power as alternators are not self-exciting. Charge the battery if necessary before doing the test. Battery at rest should be at least 12 volts.

The battery ... do you know the voltage at rest? Have you don't a hydro test of the cells? Good cells should read 1200 on the hydro test - adjusted for temperature. How old is the battery? Good batteries last for about 5 years. Older than 5 years ... battery is suspect. A full service auto parts place can test this for you. Take the battery to them. Terminals all clean??????? Very important.

When you try to start the vehicle, is voltage applied to the starter side of the solenoid? Check from the starter side cable connection to ground when you have the key moved to the start position. Voltage should go away with the key in RUN or OFF or ACC.

As a last ditch effort, remove the starter. There are two bolts that hold it to the bell housing and there will be a large cable and possibly a small wire bolted to the starter. Place the starter on the ground. Provide power to the starter power terminal and a ground (anuwhere on the metal body) with a set of heavy duty jumper cables. Does the starter run? As a last last ditch effort to find the status of the starter - take it to a full service auto parts store and have it tested..

If there is no voltage on the start side of the solenoid with the key in the start position, the solenoid is suspect.

This is a lot ... go see what you can discover. Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

How can i charge the battery for the equinox 2007 , can i just do it regularly like with the cables and another car??

The cables are just for jump starting, you won`t be able to get a full charge that way.You will need to connect a battery charger to do it properly. If you don`t have a battery charger auto zone will charge it and test it for free if you remove it and take it to them.
