You have to take off the memory card and inspect the sides and look for a small switch. You have to move it the other way around to disable the write-protect setting.

I used a variety of different methods, but here's what worked for my camera. Apparently the lens was just off the track.
1. Turn on the camera, and smack the back against the palm of your hand to get the lens to come out. 2.Hold the lens out until the "error screen" comes up. 3. Take the camera with the lens facing towards you, and use your thumbs to push on the lens. 4. Push firmly until the lens "clicks". 5. Turn off camera, then on again. 6. Hopefully cry tears of joy that you fixed it.
I think that it means your camera is locked. It could also be your SDHD card which is locked. You could try going to your settings and searching for "protect images".
It means that the SD card in your camera in on write protect mode and you will not be able to save any new pictures in it. Take our the SD card and there is notch on the side, slide it to deactivate the write protect mode.
The protect has come on because it senses an output load problem, Turn the unit off, unhook the speakers and wires from the stereo, now turn the unit on and turn the volume down as far as it will go, this should reset the processor ic, if the word protect stays off you have a short in the wiring or bad speaker. If the protect comes back on with everything unhooked the problem is in the audio output ic pack in the stereo and will require a technician to remedy.
Your memory card is an SD type. These cards have a little switch on the card that can write protect or "lock" it. Take the card out of the camera and check this switch. To unlock it, it should be moved towards the edge of the card which has the electrical contacts.

1) It could be your camera has write protect switched on. Go through your camera's menu and look for picture protect and remove it.
2) Your SD card could be write protected. Take out the SD card and check, there's probably a sliding notch on the left hand side, move the to write enable.
