check for power at socket
if no power check where wire comes from lid to body way be unpluged or brocken
follow the wire until you find power

it has probably got a interlock that is brocken inside hence machine will not work try opening the lid and replace the lock unit ...good luck kev

Solved it. Found a small shank screwdriver that fitted into the opening with a little bending of the plastic frame. managed to replace it with a new one without trouble. No further help needed. dave

It could be the lid switch. See if "jiggling" the door handle pin points the problem. The door switch normally sits behind the door handle.

If so, it is either a faulty door switch, or more likely a brocken piece of plastic which holds or triggers the lid switch.

I went to www.crock-pot.com and ordered a new lid for my model 38601. Try there. The lid was only 10.00.

My machine has the same problem and I got the same response from the company. I discovered a quick fix. With needle nose plyers I removed the wire from the corner of the lid that holds the lid open. Without the wire, the lid remains closed and the CD will play. The downside is that its tricky to open the lid. I've been using the piece of wire I removed to gently pry the lid open. I think I will glue a knob or ribbon to the top of the lid to make it easier to open. This isn't a perfect fix, but it was quick & free and now I can use my machine!
