Firmware updates are available and they are free to download and a pain in the but to do if you have never done one before. Best bet is to call D link and if it is like the service at Linksys then it is free and they will be helpful. good luck

I have a six year old Dell, do I need to shut off Windows Update for XP? Someone told me it is not necessary?? Worried Grandma

Hi:
You should keep the windows update on and running. It will not hurt anything, and usually keeps your windows security up to date, for free!

I haven't updated my drivers in years and I know some of them are out of date. Where can I find free downloads for my HP Pavillion a1013w?

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers: -

Generic problem for all PC Desktops Asus f3jc no sound after ins

I want to share some of the solutions to your problems concerning you old Asus driver. To update it just follow this link I've found from one of my researches when I have also a friend who told me that his PC needs an Asus driver update. But if you can connect to the internet, there is a website that scans your PC and update your drivers to its compatible and appropriate needs. This is the site: http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/adv/ds/majorgeeks/txt/. You can download your driver utilities.
I hope this helped you.

Anita,

No one at FixYa sold you a warranty, as far as I know.

Please don't neglect a bottom-line idea here: If your drivers are working, you may have no real reason to update. Unless you're playing lots of games or something, it should not matter.

I strongly suspect someone told you have 18 outdated drivers -- who told you, and what did they tell you? Are they trying to sell you something?

An 18-month-old computer may have quite a few outdated pieces of software, and also some outdated drivers.

You can update your drivers and software in a number of ways. All have some ... problems, but they're worth a try. Secunia offers, for home users, a free product called PSI; that will look for outdated software and typically offer a download link. Please read everything it tells you carefully. Secunia PSI may default to running every time you restart the computer; that annoys me, and I've disabled it, but your mileage may vary.

A free product called RadarSync will also try to check for outdated drivers. I've had some up-and-down problems with this; sometimes I'll have version 10 of something and it'll tell me I need to update to version 5, for example. But sometimes, sometimes, the drivers are legitimate.

The only thing that should matter is that you're regularly getting Windows updates (see a Start: Control Panel) by the same name, and you've got anti-virus software (and probably anti-spyware software) installed that's of your choice. I use AVG Free Edition; others like it and others loathe it. There are plenty of options for you out there.

I was told by a DLink tech that I need to upgrade my wireless router with FirmwareWVR-2310-RevisionA as I can't get the wireless connection He gave me the link but being a senior my hearing isn't all that...

I'm on the Dlink site now and have often used it for years in the past as I normally only buy Dlink products as they are my favorites. There is NO router designated WVR-2310 on the site, so I'm guessing that you are accidently misrepresenting the router model #. However I did find a WBR-2310 so I will temporarily assume ( dangerous ) that the WBR-2310 is what you really mean, but you should verify this by looking at your router again. I'm an old man too and blind in one eye and poor vision in the remaining eye.
Firmware updates for your model are located here
One thing that SHOULD be remembered tho is NEVER to update a firmware in a wireless mode of operation, only use a wired connection to created the updated firmware on your router. You never really mentioned what your exact issue is with the router so I can only give generic information concerning the firmware update process but you read all the small print included in the firmware download before proceeding with the update. But most important of all is make sure you have a strong internet connection through your router and that you are using a wired mode of operation, not a wireless mode of operation. Hope this has been of help and that I chose the correct model router for you.
