The webcam was working fine for several months. Then later it would open up but once the program was closed, it wouldn't open unless the computer was restarted. Now its not opening at all. When I open up HP Webcam from the start menu, the program opens up and where the camera would show up (middle of screen) the word Quickplay is shown.

Hi,

This is known Webcam issue in DV6000 notebooks. To resolve or narrow down the issue, we have to check few things.

First open Device Manager.

Please follow these steps to open Device Manager:

1. Right Click on 'My Computer' icon on Desktop and choose Properties.
2. The System properties Window opens.
3. Click Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.

Expand + Imagining Devices and check if the HP Webcam is listed under it.

If Webcam is not listed there, then you have to contact HP to get the BIOS update.

If it is listed there, right click on it and select Disable. Again right click on it and select Enable.

Now open any applications like Quickplay and check if Webcam is working or not.

Please reply me if that won't resolve the issue, I can provide more work arounds

There are so many different Pavilion laptop models now it's crazy. In fact, there are over 1000 different HP Pavilion models alone! Every single one of them requires a different web cam driver update that is designed to run for that system (to KEEP it working).

On top of that, there are multiple operating systems and even different types of web cams which all require their own specific set of install instructions for updating the web cam drivers so that you don't have to worry about continually repairing the camera.

As time goes on HP gets better and better at fixing and preventing these web camera errors but that's all dependent on you following the most updated drivers first.

I've found that some of the fixes for the HP Pavilion laptop web cam work and some do not. If you aren't able to find a solution for your Pavilion model here at FixYa, write down the correct information for your HP Pavillion laptop computer and follow the steps HP provides for updating the built-in webcam drivers

Cant get my hp PAVILION DV6000 built-in webcam to work.

try using a real HP driver yet?
downloaded from whom, most non HP sites are virus pits from H3LL.
know that first.
finding drivers for obsolete systems is super hard work.

Pavilion dv6000 (is that the full partnumber or the useless series number)? post the service tag for 10x better answers.
if at HP.com (where you should have gone first) they demand that first. that is because, there are 50 LT in that series.or more
and guess what they all dont use the same chips nor cameras.

carbon date,,,, 2006 ,2007?
just about 10 years old and support ends at 10 years old
XP is dead now for 3 years why run XP
XP must have SP3 loaded, service pack 3 or USB is no good and vast other things super bad.. (old old history that)

only this matters, see those xx below, all facts here matter.
1,2,3 , all do. to match drivers; to OS. just 1 example here of 1000
9000-ppec2icix4tk32ykqb2dko55-5-0.jpg here is the dead files on this LT
deep dead.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv6000-dv9000-models/td-p/179816

if you read the real service manual on any HP laptop made
you learn fast there are vast variances in chips used.
and matching drivers same,
some have 3 -4 wifi chips different. in one model.
like this DV6000-1234, see that 1234, vast models exist.
world wide in fact.

Y hp pavilion dv6000 webcam is not work mhay dont

ok ..I dont know exactly the problem that you have ...but I am link-ing you to the site where you will find all drivers for your model ...
so ..if you are running windows vista ....just go to control panel and uninstall the driver from remove programs ....
then you either install the new driver ...and after that run the wizard from add new hardware ...or it will prompt you for a driver after you uninstall the old one ...I dont know if its a build in or not web cam ...anyway the procedure is the same ...you will be also be prompt for restart
