Question about Oster 200 Watts 2382 Hand/Stand Mixer
I need to purchase a small plastic gear which holds the beater in place. I don't have a part #. It is a milky color plastic with small teeth on the gear and a shaft about 1 1/2 " long. It broke and i glued it with gorilla glue and that lasted a little while, but it has broken again and I want to replace it. Do you know where I can find one?
i called kitchenaid. and i am repaired. lay mixer on its side. then you can see how rod needs to line up. loosten screw a bit if necessary. then tighten back up. very easy solution!

You are correct, in the mixer head above the attachment hub is a gearbox, and there is a fiber gear meant to do just that should something similar happen, it can be replaced, I don't know price, but if you are careful, and fair mechanically, it is a straight forward replacement.

Will it turn at all? Try to soak it. Put a paper towel strip where the beater locks onto the shaft and soak ot with window cleaner. Let it soak for a while. If there's any buildup, this should soften it.

I just got one from a yard sale.... Had same problem, until I figured out that I needed to depress the plastic release button. Here's how to find it: underneath the mixer, the plastic is divided into two parts, the place where you insert the beaters and the section that is closer to the hinge. From the upright position, find the section closer to the hinge and press UP. This will release the head to you can tilt it.
