The hard drive? less than $100. you would have to open your ps3 up and take out the original. then you have to get the new one and put it in place of the original. the ps3 *may* format the drive for you, but you might have to plug the new drive into a computer and format it. probably fat32, but it may be a specialized format. search around on google for details. the hard drive you can pick up off the internet from tiger direct or you can take a look for one at the source or circuit city.

The harddrive in your ps3 has died. You need to purchase a new one, the ps3 takes a simple Laptop 2.5inch harddrive. These can be purchased for around $35 for an 80gb harddrive.

Playstation 3 (PS3) Console: i put in my resident evil game and it said theres ...

Your PS3 may have an error in the harddrive that causes this, I recommend that you buy a new harddrive that is cheap. and copy save data onto it then clear all memory on the original harddrive. It may also be a corrupted save.

Having trouble hard drive in ps3slim

Wiredextreme.com can fix your YLoD for 86 dollars and you can buy up to a 4 year warranty that covers everything on the PS3.

I suggest returning the slim and sending in the 60GB

PS3 Will not turn on

You're suffering the infamous Yellow light of death. supposedly (from what I've heard) the heating compound inside the system that protects it's innards from the massive amount of heat the system generates breaks down over the years of use.

You can try and fix it yourself, there are plenty of tutorials for that on the internet but most people end up destroying their system and Sony wont even touch it after you've broken the seals even if you pay them.

At this point you're going to need to get your system replaced. it's about $160 USD and you get a new (refurbished to new condition) system with a 1 year warranty. Hopefully you've backed up your content to an external drive. if you upgraded to a new internal harddrive, remove it and replace it with the original drive. When you get the box in the mail from them with all the paper work make sure to let them know on the sheet that a game is stuck inthe system. Also when you get your replacement system you'll need to make sure to call sony and get the original system removed from your account because it will take away from your 5 download slots since you couldnt deactivate it yourself with this problem.

Sorry about your issue and good luck.

Ps3 hardrive corrupted

You can restore your PS3's harddrive by loading your console into Safe Mode.

Choose option 5 'Restore PS3 System' to restore all default settings and reformat the harddrive.

I hope that helps.

My PS3 wont allow me to download anything to the harddrive.

This error has been dubed as the Virus error by PS3 users. The hard drive needs to be completely wiped. You can do this by doing the full system restore. (Yea, the one that takes 10 hours) One or more of your files may be corrupted with a very small but lethal file that affects the PS3 but may not affect your PC. If all else fails, try a different hard drive. I hope this helps you. Good luck and happy gaming!!

PS3 won't recognize disks after update

You can back up ANYTHING you wish to keep via the backup utility what I'm about to tell you to do will essentially erase your harddrive. After backing up any data you wish to keep, restore your PS3 system and to a FULL ( not quick ) format of your harddrive ( this will probably take a couple of hours ). After that, if it still doesn't work call SONY.

Hope that helps..........
