Just to verify, you are trying to connect from a computer external to your network to a computer on your internal network, right?

The error you mention is thrown if the name in the remote asstiance file cannot be resolved by DNS. Open the remote assistance file you generate in a text editor like notepad and then look for the value next to "RCTICKET=". This is name name & IP of the computer requesting remote assistance. If you're trying to connect from an external computer, make sure of the following:

  1. On your router, forward TCP 3389 to whatever IP you're trying to access
  2. That the hostname listed is able to resolved externally (it needs to have a fully qualified domain name list somehost.somedomain.com not just somehost'
  3. The IP address is not a private (192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) address but a publicly accessible IP address.

SOURCE: Unable to connect to internet

well !! according to me you've got a programming problem in your modem due to electricity fluctuation so , to solve this check if u hv a user manual of your modem ... if u have then its really good...

u will find a re-programming isp code ...

now to solve this first switch your modem on then go to any browser and type in the isp code there which is somewhat like " 192.168.1.1 " etc.

type that in the address bar and click enter ..
find the reboot option in the menu and click it..
your modem will reboot and then your internet will start working again !!

now just connect to internet via your default connection ....
your problem is solved....

SOURCE: Remote Assistance Firewall Issues

Use Crossloop. Each session is encrypted and doesn't require turning off firewalls in your routers. You will have to give it permission to run in Vista and XP, but it works and I've used it many times.

If this is what you're already using, go to their help page to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps.

If you turn your sound up on the computer, do you hear a dial tone? Does it then begin dialing? If not you may have a bad modem. Try dialing the ISP's number with your phone, it should dial in and you should hear various beeps and so on, if not the ISP is down.

Error no.797 occurs when i tried to connect to internet through dial up modem

Hi,

797 - The modem could not be found.

This error occurs only in Windows 2000 and XP. The error can occur if the modem is no longer visible to the system, and may be a problem related to the modem driver, or system conflicts that cause the modem to work only some of the time.
In some cases, rebooting the machine may "solve" the problem.
If the modem is an external and is not powered on when the system is booted this error may occur: shut-down, power on the modem & re-boot the system.
If the error persists, check to see if there is an updated driver for your modem.

Thanks.

My windows vista will not send or receive emails. When sending I receive Error 0X800CCC0F Wher nreciving I recive Error 797, Modem not found.

If you don't have a modem on your machine, you must have another way to connect to the Internet, an ethernet card, or a wireless card.

If you are connected to the Internet this way, you should change the configuration on your email account to use the connection, instead of dialing via a telephone line.

If you're uncertain what to do next, tell me the email program you are using (Windows Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird...), and how you connect to the internet, and I'll try to give you additional details.

Hope that helps!
