Not all computers have outputs for those speakers (numbre of channels), most of them only have one output (green), you need a sound card and disable the bios audio system.

I just got an x540 speaker system from my freind but i didnt get all the jacks what do i need?

Um, didn't get all the jacks meaning that you don't have the yellow, green, and black cables that run from your speakers to your computer, or the jacks on the speakers themselves? You can go to Logitech's website and find the cable I'm sure, about how much it will cost, can't exactly say but possibly not cheap.. other solution is to go to walmart, kmart, radio shack, anywhere they sell electronics, and get yourself three audio cables with 1/8 in jacks on both ends... then just match colors and connect!

Dell a215 computer speakers can't get sound but the green power light is on

Well i sometimes go through alot of troubleshooting just to find its the most simple thing in the end.

Start at the source. Check if the green audio cable is plugged into the correct audio jack on the pc. Colours match up. (green with green)
And if that doest work check that the Pc isnt on mute.

To check this, there is a icon of a speaker on the task bar on the bottom right of the screen.

And if all this has been done and u still have no sound, plugg the speakers into a ipod or a similar device to see that the speakers actually do work. turn the volume up and down as well.

Hope this helps :)

Dell 5650 Speakers on Gateway DX4200

the speakers should have a stereo jack on a wire which would be the out put, if it is a surround sound speaker system then it most likely will have a few wires, if your computer has only one stereo jack input then the green cable would be the one you would connect in most cases, if it has 3 or 6 then you would follow the colour on the jacks and match them up with the input on your computer. if you have done all this and doesnt work check if there is audio icon in the bottom left task bar and if you can use other speakers, if you can everthing should work, if not then check for drivers online.
