Question about Computers & Internet

I have a COMPAQ DCHS09U Fast Wide SCSI Had Disk connected to a QLogic C21 32-bit PCI Fast and Wide SCSI Host Adapter Card with four other Fast and Wide SCSI Hard Disks and other SCSI Devices. The QLogic C21 Host Adapter is Installed in an AOpen AX45B Pentium 3 Motherboard. The Problem that I'm having is the COMPAQ DCHS09U Hard Disk isn't Spinning Up on Power-Up but instead is Spinning Up during SCSI Device Scan Process, which delays this process by a long time. So I need information on How to set the Jumpers on the COMPAQ DCHS09U Fast and Wide SCSI Hard Disk. Could you please provide me with this information? Thank you, David A. Smith

When combining internal and external devices, only one of the internal connectors can be used.

Try disableing the Start/Stop Unit command with the jumper
http://webserver-1.wescorp.com/wescorp-library/pdf-library/DEC-CPQ-HP/IPB-&-QR-1/app_b_scsi_hard_drive_config_charts.pdf

I suppose when this is enabled it waits for the command before starting the motor. see if this solves the issue.

What Add2 card will fit in the HP 5700 small frame factor?

I understand that you want to add a second display to the
HP Compaq dc5700 Small Form Factor PC. I had checked and found that the Video adapter features RAMDAC integrated (400-MHz); Controller Clock Speed: 667 MHz; Overlay Planes: One 16 bit video overlay plane; Max Color Depth: 32-bits/pixel; Multi-display Support: Support for one VGA and one DVI-D, in conjunction with an ADD2 card, clone and extended desktop modes are supported. It specifies that the clone and extended desktop modes are supported. You may try connecting the second display and check the operation. Also the computer comes with the expansion slots 2 low profile PCI, 1 low profile PCI Express x1 and 1 SDVO/ ADD2 connector. You can go for a video card that can be connected to the PCI slot.

Upgrade hard drives on 670

There is a 2TB limit with MBR (Master Boot Record), but even a larger drive can be partitioned. So a single 4TB (biggest on the market) drive will look like several drives.
External drives that are bigger than 4TB are really several physical drives combined by an array.

RAID 1 requires optional SCSI drives, cables, and even software?

Add on SATA 3 cards to PCI are not a good idea if you are looking for speed. They just bottlenecks the throughput.

When I download a program an click to install it a box pops up saying the download I am trying to install is not a valid Win32 application. This is a new problem. I have not had any problems downloading in...

This error message could be caused by a number of things. Generally it's because the program being downloaded is corrupt or didn't download completely. Have you tried a different browser to do the downloads? If it's a very large download you may encounter problems with losing packets. A download manager may help.
http://www.techspot.com/downloads/231-free-download-manager.html

Also, you may want to try doing a restore to system restore point to a date when you weren't having this issue. System Checkpoint dates (in bold) are usually very safe points to restore to. I would also recommend a virus scan and if you don't have this utility and are able to download and install it (yes I know that's your current problem, but you can download it to a flashdrive from a friend's comp and install it), I'd get Glarysoft Utilities and run the one-click maintenance which will fix any registry errors. It's free and is a great way to keep your machine running well.

If any of this helps correct your problem I would appreciate a rating. People here seem to take the help and don't show any appreciation by taking the time to rate the help.

My compaq desktop has two long beeps a pause and two long beeps without a signal to the monitor. If I put a recovery disk in it beeps normally but still no screen.

Sounds like a video adapter problem. Try taking your video card out and then reseating it into the PCI slot. Make sure your monitor is connected correctly. Also, it might not hurt to make sure the all other periphs are seated correctly. (RAM,Network card, etc) hope this helps

What pci card will fit

if your computer is a SR1620NX the support site on compaq tells you what you need http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00378480&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1127351
go down to expansion slots and it says
  • One PCI Express x16 graphics
  • Three PCI
  • One SCSI connector for PCI Extender Card for two additional PCI slots (optional)
so if you want to put a graphics card in you need a pci express card or a pci card

My Computer did not access Western Digital Hard Disk, Model No. WD 1600 AABB Caviar SATA.

Good morning! Please make sure that the drive’s power and SATA cables are properly connected. If the Serial ATA host adapter card is installed in a 64-bit PCI slot on the system motherboard, move the card to a 32-bit slot.

Verify that only one power cable (either SATA or legacy) is connected to the drive. Check to see that the power connector and SATA interface cable are securely attached and that the
SATA host adapter card is properly seated in the PCI slot.

The Serial ATA interface connects each drive in a point-to-point configuration with the built-in SATA port on the motherboard or with the SATA host adapter card; therefore eliminating the master/slave relationship as required with EIDE. Each drive utilizes its own
cable for data transfer rates. Jumper settings for Western Digital Serial ATA hard drives are mainly used for enterprise storage environments.

Most third party controller cards and RAID adapters are recognized as a SCSI device under Device Manager. This is normal and will not affect your drive or system performance.

To verify if the Serial ATA drive is recognized by the system, Right-click on the My Computer icon, select Properties, left-click on the Hardware tab, and click on Device Manager in the window. Double-click on Disk Drives. Your new Western Digital Serial ATA drive should be listed as a "SCSI Disk Device" or "Serial ATA Disk Device." If not, make sure that all cables are securely attached and that your system BIOS has been properly configured. regards

My computer

Your SCSI card sounds like it is either loose or knackered, look inside your machine and make sure all connections are connected as you would expect on the SCSI card and any cables, if all seems ok then beg borrow or lend another SCSI card from a friend or another machine try that if all is ok with the other card then your problem is sorted, knackered SCSI card.
