Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Stinky Clothes So has anyone ever gotten this settled? I have fought and argued about this washing machine and my husband thinks I am doing something wrong to make this happen! I cannot stand at the door and open it the minute it stops HOWEVER I have done so and it doesnt do any good anyways! Why are we as consumers accepting this? Who has this kind of money to "blow"? Obviously if we are buying these, we are doing it because we need them, not because we need extra work to do! Its crazy! Audrey

Clothes smell like sour milk after wash. Not enough water in machine????

  • ajrcall Aug 10, 2008

My clothes also smell after washing. Has anyone tried to run bleach through the fabric softener, liquid bleach, and detergent compartments with some old towels? Just wondering if this would kill all the mold that is growing behind the compartments and througout the machine?

I have the same problem and it's seems to be getting worse. My friend also has the same washer and dryer with the same problem. I have tried the bleach, I do the rinse and spin cycle before I do the complete wash(that's not a real time/energy saver) using the extra rinse. Guess what.....I saw a lot of soap suds in that rinse water from the previous wash and these clothes were suppose to have gone through the complete normal wash cycle. With the price we paid for this set up it does not live up to it's name. It's still stinks. Don't even try the 10 pair or whatever jeans in one load, my friend tried it and it doesn't work. It seems like there is not enough water. I did a coverlet bed spread and I don't think it even got wet in the middle of it. What gives. I am really sorry I talked my husband into getting this. I should have listen to him and got a top loader.

Common problem with every front loader on market.there is no one time cure for this, only maintatinance.if you are not using h/e detergent, start using it.the extra sudsing agent in non-h/e detergent is building up in the tub.because this will always keep the inner tub moist, mold and mildew will grow on the inside of your tub and give you that septic smell.(1)take 2 full cups of bleach and put directly in mach(2)turn mach on and set to lonest cycle, sanitary or whitest whites.(3)let mach complete entire cycle and make your 1st load after a white load(this will ensure if there is any left over bleach it will not affect your laundry)you will then have to determine how long it takes for smell to start comming back and when it does, repeat process.on my mach it is.good luck every 4 to 6 months.if u continue to use non h/e detergent,it will be sooner

I wouldn't blame it on the washer but did you have the same problem with your previous washer? Are you using the same water source as previously. Do you use a chlorine bleach with it and did you use it before? Is the cheer a liquid or powder. You should us a powder.

Roper RAX7245KQ0 Problem: Washing Machine Leaking Water

This is the best designed life long lasting Whirlpool washing machine. This core design is more than 35 years old and it is so good Made in USA design. Cannot go wrong.... Coming from 1969 Moon landing time where Made in USA matters....

Most of the time in this design, the drain pump leaks. Is the leak is coming from front middle. It might be the drain pump. Careful observation is needed. Check the drain pump seam for possible water marks or brown color water marks. Make sure before changing.

Make sure it is the drain pump. Can be something else too.

Part description for water pump for your model with a video clip how to change it.

Rinse cycle of our Danby Portable washing machine

Find the drain solenoid valve and see if it is stuck open. It should be near the drain outlet. Measure the power at the drain solenoid. It should be 0 volts when the washer is filling. If there is power there (AC voltage), then there is something wrong with the control board, this is unlikely. I suspect the solenoid valve has seized in the open position. Manually advance the wash cycle to drain or spin. The solenoid should click when it opens. If it buzzes, then it is seized. The best thing is to watch and listen as you advance the cycle and see if you can verify what the valve on the solenoid is actually doing. I suspect you may want to replace this solenoid.
