Hi Luce n Steve,
To quote JC at Photo.Net: "sometimes the rewind function "gets stuck" if the camera thinks a previous rewind did not complete successfully. The solution is to reset it by forcing a rewind operation. Just press the two rewind buttons simultaneously: on the left side of the lens and just behind the shutter release. (They are marked and the manual explains how to force a rewind.) I did exactly this, and my next roll of film loaded without problems." Hope that help you folks.
The first thing you need to do to establish whether there's really a problem is to replace the film. It seems like after the battery change the camera simply rewound the film.
If the shots are special and you don't want the risk of ruining them, open the back of the camera in total pitch black darkness and then feel to check whether the film is rewound or not.
Unless you have tech training in cameras--DON'T! I can't count how many customers have innocently tried to "make a small adjustment" only to have the wrath of the camera god come crashing down(the adjustment is most likely a tiny adjustable potentiometer(variable resistor) which, these days are extremely delicate(we used to laugh at the phrase, "If you saw it move, it was too much!" Let the pros do it right the first time--there are wires, tiny flexible plastic circuit boards, and techniques for removing outer covers that you have to experience in order to do it without damaging something, trust me on this one!---Rick(an old pro!)
If you want to rewind manually, you need to press two buttons simultanously. Turn the power on. First, hold "BKT" button just above lens release knob then press the button "+/1" just next to the shutter release. Both button will have red rewind sign next to them. -James
turn the advance lever to charge the shutter.or open the film door and rotate the drive sprocket to the right, this will release the button. if the button didn't pop up then the bottom cover will have to be removed in order to release it manually.
Hey Pix4me,
I would make sure that the manual rewind button on the back of the camera is not stuck in, or you're not accidentally hitting the manual rewind button. I hope this helps!
Most manual cameras have a button to release the film on the bottom of the camera, push the button in and turn the rewind crank (left side of the top of the camera) until you feel the crank suddenly turning much easier.
