"clean" light blinking
Hi,
If I may offer an alternative method.....
Even if you (with or without the help of the experts) have identified the heater fault (real or false trigger), perhaps you may want to reconsider performing a DIY. This is based on a "Service Pointer" issued by Whirpool (rebranded Kenmore) on January 2005 Ref. K8178496 where the fault has been acknowledge and to my understanding, the manufacturer is responsible for rectifying the defect. Pls reference this page.
Incidentally, there is a video tutorial specifically addressing this particular problem.
The above information were sourced from here.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
The humming you hear is probably not a stuck motor but a problem with the motor windings best solution is replace wash motor assembly ..the water is drained by a completely separate motor that is removable from main wash assembly ..have tried what you have numerous time with only occasional sucess a complete replacement is usually the only solution
I can provide you the site with lots of information about your unit just go through it know your problem and get it repaired by yourself

something could be blocking the dish washer to wash before hitting the cancel button
the loose connection can cause the humming noice just of the unit and check properly.
that could also be the problem try replacing that you can get it at any electric shop.
Did the solutions from all of us experts solved your problem if not then let us know the current updates so all the fixya experts can assist you further.

To clear the error code, hit heated dry then normal wash, heated dry-normal wash. all lights will light up, hit cancel, that should clear the error.

Kenmore 665. dishwasher
"clean" light blinking. only cycle that seemed to function: clear. It pumped it dry. By pushing a series of buttons was able to reset. Ran cycle and it seemed to have a new hum, humming sounded like it was cycling, but not like usual - maybe filling and pumping at the same time. I say this because the kitchen water became hot and the inside of the dishwasher was warm, although the element was not hot. It ran this cycle for only about 20 minutes and then went back to blinking "clean" light.
About 2 mo. ago I replaced heating element. Sears no longer carries the element, even though the DW is only 3 yrs. old. Anyway, one I bought came with new computer because, as it said, the new element runs at a different temp than the old one. Unfortunately I tossed the old circuit board so can't plug it in to see if that makes a difference

I pulled the drain apart and pulled out some large pieces of glass, but can't see how they could prevent the motor from running. also looked underneath and can't imagine anything external preventing the motor from running.
The motor obviously runs. The dishwasher will fill, then hum but not wash. But then when I hit "cancel" the motor runs to drain the unit.
I checked the capacitor wiring - OK.
I pulled the motor to see if anything was obstructing it. Problem is I don't know what it should look like. pulling the motor was easy. one screw and it twisted right out. the shaft on the motor may have disintegrated. not sure. the tip of it looks like a sharpened pencil.
There is a round plastic cover that covered the entrance to the inside of the housing. I pried it out, it has a heavy O ring around it. the pieces on the inside fellout, to not sure of the order. but there is what appears to be an impeller which also has a shaft just like the one coming out of the motor, that looks like a sharpened pencil. the other end of this impeller has a little white ratchet that looks like a large version of the ratchet you find inside a ball point pen. It appears that the end opposite the ratchet is broken.
The expert's answer "that could also be the problem try replacing that you can get it at any electric shop" makes no sense - I have no idea what it is talking about. any other info?
the comment "you're almost there, just clean the unit" didn't make any sense either.
Is the thing broken or just dirty?
