Question about ASUS P5W DH Deluxe Motherboard

Computer powers on but then turns off after a few seconds

I have a ASUS P5WD2 Premium Motherboard and after turning on the computer it powers off. I noticed that when I unplug everything and just leave the 24pin power cable connected the computer stays powered on but when I plug in the 4pin power cable which im assumong powers the CPU the computer turns off after a few seconds of having power. What could this mean? Do I have a faulty power supply or motherboard? Please let me know what I can do to fix this. Thanks

I know this is a late response but someone might have this similar issue which is generally caused by a faulty power switch on the case of the computer. The switch is stuck in the pressed or active position so when you power the computer the switch still being depressed or faulty turns the computer right back off again and you're stuck in this loop. The best way to identify if this is the issue is to remove the power shunt from the jumper then use a screw driver to jump the power connections that would turn the computer on... if it stays on the switch or entire case needs to be replaced whichever is easier

I know this is a a very late relpy but the suggetion above sloved my problem. As TXpaulsr mentioned, unplug the power cables from the jumper then use a screw driver (with ground) and power on the computer. If it fails then you have a faulty motherboad or power supply

Driver audio

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us You can also pick from the premium version & one other for this board. Unfortunately, they don't have a 7 driver & probably never will,so you can use the vista driver with no issues. Also, you can go to realtek's site & see if they have a beta driver out. Just have your chipset number handy, that's also on that link.

Board comes on but it don't boot yet everything else seems to be working fine, why won't it boot?

Ensure you have hardisk and OS installed, take off any CD on CD Drive. If still won't work, try to re-seating the memory card and graphic card (if you use one in slot).
Check the Power and Data cable connection onto hardisk.

You can download the drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard, and make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system.

System windows 7 can''t look for HD I havn''t driver for motheboard

Win 7 should find the HD with no problem, without a driver. Windows should start up in 'limp' mode, and activate the other resources once proper drivers are loaded. Check Asus-usa's website for the drivers for the main board.

I hook everything up and turn it on but i get nothing

if you just built a new pc, and hooked up your power button and reset button and mixed up the possitive and negitive wires you may have fried your motherboard. If you hold the power button for five seconds and your pc does not power down, it's fried.
