We are experiencing the same problem with the "Clean Corona Wire" error message. We installed a brand new drum unit and toner and are still getting the same error.

    corona wire message

  • erodgers Oct 15, 2008

We have replaced the toner. We have cleaned the wire numerous times with the little gren tab and made sure it was all the way back to the edge. We still get the "clean the corona wire" message and cannot print anything.

I have only used this printer for a few weeks, and now can't use the printer at all. First, I was able to do the "cleaning", and it worked fine for a few more days. Now it doesn't matter how many times I open and move the corona wire, the message won't go away. I'm reluctant to buy an expensive drum assembly / toner cartridge since it will cost more than this crappy printer in the first place .... and also because some of you have indicated that buying a new cartridge doesn't fix the problem!

We have the same issue. Clean corona wire. I've cleaned it about 6 times just like the pop up says and I still get the error. Buy a new toner or printer????

  • NetMan505 Nov 25, 2008

I have the same problem. Clean the Corona Wire error message pops up after EVERY page prints! Replaced drum with brand new unit and brand new toner cartridge - still the same problem.

  • Anonymous Dec 07, 2008

I just this too. I still get the error message to clean the corona wire. Nothing is printing. How frustrating!

  • rogervc May 25, 2009

I just spent a hundred plus dollars for a new drum, I'm still getting the clean corona wire message, and it does not print. I had a fondness for Brother because they made one of the first typewriter/word processors, but it seems to be junk now.

I was getting the clean the corona wire problem message even after repeated cleanings.  Before this problem occured the toner light was flashing warning of low toner. When I got the clean the wire pop up the toner light was on all the time indicating the toner was depleated.  So, I thought I would try replacing the toner cartridge and see what happened. I opened the new toner box and noticed on the foil packege specific instructions to clean the corona wire when installing the new toner.  I installed the new toner and cleaned the wire one more time. I then reinstalled the drum and toner assembly into the printer and the clean the corona wire message did not come up again.  The printer now works fine.

After my previously posted solution, I again ran into the same problem after using only a small amount of toner from a new installed cartridge.  I then found a post at this link which solved my problem and should be of help to others.http://www.fixya.com/support/t498042-hiw...

After I fixed the problem using the link in my November 20th comment, I reinstalled the origional starter toner cartridge that came with the printer.  Since reinsatalling the starter cartridge I have printed more than 100 pages without a problem.

Taping up the side hole with electrical tape works really well, so the sensor light does not pass through, and tricks into believing that it's fill of ink. Worked Great-Printing nice and dark, Q, Would this cause any damage to the printer, especiallw when it goes really low and light grey on ink?

Following up from Arius' advise, i tried to use a blower and thoroughly blow away the dust sparks and what not on the corona wire and then it worked perfectly. i think as Arius mentioned, the corona wire is very sensitive to dusts and particles. Therefore, as long as the wire stays clean, the printer can then work without any problem.

This is what i did.
1. remove drum cartridge
2. separate toner cartridge
3. remove small "E" clip from drum shaft at corona cleaner end
4. remove bush and push Drum shaft slightly in, enough to disengage bush at other end.
5. hold by shaft and lift drum and corona unit from drum cartridge and place on table with drum upward.
6. pull out drum shaft and remove drum watch for drum gear.
7. at the end of the corona unit which has a white disk, gently prize/slide the corona grid away from the disk. this releases the grid and it can now be lifted carefully out.
8. Use an eraser to clean the corona wire "CAREFULLY" it should be Golden colour.
9. use eraser to clean All toner stains from Grid "CAREFULL"
remove rubber roller and clean with dry cloth.
10.

    10. reassemble in reverse order.
if this doesn't fix. remove 3 screws from end toner cover. remove small gear from cover and turn other gear till tab is at other end of cutout. reassemble this resets toner.

Corona wire are quite sensitive to any foreign particle like toner, or dust, spark might cause the corona to popped up, ensure the the whole assy is thoroughly clean and install a new wire, do not use any liquid material in this area, caus it is a form of conductor that might help the corona from shorting to the ground itself,

nothing to do with the toner, it might be a coincidence

Try printing a configuration page: it should tell you what the actual amount of toner is in it.
For the message I beleive there is a sensor or voltage indicator that reads how the wire is doing wipe the inside with a clean cloth top and bottom to remove any toner that might be giving a false reading

Printer Status LED is Red and Drum Light is Yellow

Hi, this error shows when the corona wire is dirty, some times I clean the corona wire with a small screw driver pressing the corona wire down and slide the screw driver to the both sides also once you clean in the up I press from the side and slide the screwdriver after that with a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol slide from side to side, or replace the drum unit and reset, if you install a new toner, there is a mechanic control for reset the printer toner counter, this only works the first time that you install the cartridges, for example If you install the cartridge in 1 printer and then move to other printer the other printer keep the counter for the old cartridge, if you are sure that your cartridge is new you need to open a return the gears to is original position in order to install in another printer.

Printer keeps saying to clean the corona wire. I cleaned it several times but the message keeps popping up.

To clean the corona wire in the brother laser printer, it said to remove the drum/toner assembly from the printer. This is very easy to do, you simply pull down the front of the printer, and press a small green tab down and pull. Then the toner and drum assembly will quickly come out.
After that, it says you must clean the corona wire by moving a small green square back and forth several times. It seemed kind of strange to me, but I did it anyways. In the upper right corner of the drum/toner assembly, there is a small green/blue square that can be moved back and forth. I did this several times.
I then placed the unit inside, and the error message went away for a minute. However it still wouldn't print and the error message came right back up. I was a bit frustrated since I have only owned this printer for about 2-3 months.
But then I realized something: The toner button had been blinking for about a month. I had already purchased a high yield black toner cartridge for the brother laser printer (Tn-330/TN360). I purchased it online, and had it stored for when I eventually ran out of toner.
I thought perhaps the error message had something to do with the old toner. Maybe it was out?? So I once again opened the front of the laser printer, and removed the toner/drum assembly. I pressed a green tab, removed the old toner, and then added the brand new high yield black laser toner cartridge. The whole process was very simple (you gotta love today's technology).
I then quickly "cleaned the corona wire" a few times again just to be safe. I re-installed the toner, and the printer was up and running. So apparently it will throw this error when you are out of toner. Now the printer is running great again, and I really like this printer.
If you are still using an ink jet printer, then you are living in the stone age. I was reluctant to buy a new laser printer, but now I love it. The toner only costs $30-60 and lasts for months. I print hundreds of labels out each month-just to give you an idea of how long it lasts.or get more information Call +877 889 6859 for detail.

Print and copy all in blank

Hopefully, the most obvious problem would be your out of toner. Try removing the toner cartridge and shaking it gently to attempt to hear anything. If it's empty replace it. If it's a recycled cartridge, replace it and always buy new brand name cartridges (things can go wrong during their "recycling"). Also be sure that the tape is not on the cartridge blocking the ink. If it's not your cartridge it's probably your corona wire. Open up your printer and use a flashlight to look for the corona wire, You'll know if it's broken, it could be in pieces of just not there at all. The corona wire is fairly inexpensive and easily replaced. If the corona wire AND the toner cartridge both check out fine, it's most likely your high voltage power supply and that will need to be replaced. (Don't try that one yourself!!!)

Paper comes out black when printing and copying.

A. The drum is not being charged. The charger corona wire is probably broken or not making good electrical contact. The charger corona wire may be part of the toner cartridge. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the toner cartridge. If that doesn’t work, try another toner cartridge.

Hi, Sorry my english is poor, but i will try: you have to say to your machine that you change the drum, open the front end, and pull out the drum , and insert it, but before you close the front end, push the clear/back button, and answer yes,...thi is it :-)

Vertical lines printed on right side of every page

Would be helpful to know the brand and model of the printer. Sometimes this is caused by not returning the slide used to clean the primary corona wire to its original position (usually to the extreme left side of the toner cartridge) after cleaning the corona wire. If you haven't cleaned the corona wire, you should follow instructions and do that first.

I'm sorry to tell you, this is likely a drum issue.

You probably need to have a certified engineer examine the machine.

Have you tried speaking with the local service center to see if they have experienced similar issues? It might be free information.
