Had deleted a couple of apps from my phone now it wontread my sims card. meaning it wont dail out the att and 3g icon isnt showing in the staus bar. it is an unlocked phone

The icon in the notification bar that looks like a phone with a squiggly line on each side is letting you know the phone is on vibrate. Toggle volume settings.
The sim wont work because it is locked to the att network which means it will only work with att sim cards.
You will have to unlock the phone from the att network before it can work with the T mobile sim card
You should contact your network provider so as to get steps to unlocking your phone from the att network or you should contact a repairer to help you unlock it
IF YOUR FRIEND HAD HIS PHONE UPGRADED TO A NEW ONE, BUT KEPT THE RAZR, THE SIM CARD HAS BEEN DELETED AND IS WORTHLESS. IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER PHONE TRY THE SIM CARD FROM IT. IT SHOULD WORK UNLESS THE RAZR IS ONE OF THE NEW 3G PHONES.
For video call to work, you have to be in a 3G covered area. This means that the icon over your signal level bar must be full and have 3G written in it. It wont work if it is running on a low 3G band (the signal bars must be full) a GSM band (a G logo above the bars) or HSDPA band ( a H logo above the bars).
I don't know why even though HSDPA is faster than 3G but the viewty will only allow video call to take place when 3G is available.
I've heard it can also be dependant on your service provider, as PAYG sim cards sometimes wont allow video calls.
the new sim card is connected with having an iphone account. when you say it is officially unlocked. does this mean that AT&T unlocked your phone? what i think your saying is that if you have 2 sim cards, one that is in use and the other is a spare you cannot use both. at the same time. the sims are standalone, to use a spare sim it has to be activated by the carrier, thus disabling your original sim. when you change sims you will need to reboot the phone that will not change.
the message icon means that your sim card has old messages still stored on it. change your message storage location to sim card so you can view them, then delete them, and change it back..
