Why did it fail? How did it fail? Was it the plumbing that failed? Replace it with a Pentair filter housing, 10" housing, 20" housing or Big Blue housing and make sure it is plumbed in properly. It is very unusual for a filter housing to fail unless it freezes up.

Canisters on my ge smart water filtration system gxsv10c model are stuck tight. How do i get them open

Make sure the water is turned off to system. Open the faucet to system to drain any water and keep the faucet turned on to keep pressure off filter housings.
1.Use the wrench to take housings off.
2. If they still won't budge take a small 2x4 block of wood and hammer, set the block of wood on the RIB for the housing and tap with hammer.
3. Change the o-rings in both housings, lubricate with silicone lube and lubricate the threads on housings with silicone also.
3. Rinse housings with small amount of bleach and clean thoroughly.
4. Replace filters and housings.
5. IMPORTANT: Only tighten housings by hand. NEVER tighten housings with wrench.

I have a whole house water filter that uses a 30 micron FXHSC filter. the last two filters have come apart and sent fiber through the water lines in the house

Hi,
I would shop around for a different water filter supplier...there is no reason ofr that happening unless you are not changing the filters regularly...like once a month...
most filters are a standard size and it should be easy to get them somewhere else...

The red pressure relief button on my GE Smartwater GXWH35F whole house Water filer system is leaking water, any suggestions? Oring, what do you lubricate the Oring with?

Don't lubricate this O ring. Your trouble is not there.

There is probably a small piece of dirt in the bleed valve (you are calling this a pressure relief though its purpose is to let the air out not provide relief from excess pressure). Press it several times to try to wash the dirt out.

If this doesn't work, you might have to work on the valve from the inside.

The red pressure relief button on my GE Smartwater GXWH35F whole house water filter system doesn't seem to be relieving pressure. As a result I cannot turn the filter cartridge in order to replace the...

To replace the filter cartridge. Do the following;
1. Assuming that you have a pump in your water filter
system, shut it off.
2 Close the intake valve before your filter system.
3.To relieve the pressure, open the faucet after your
filter system. Any of your faucet for that matter.
4.Once the pressure is relieved, you can of course
replace the the filter cartridge.

Water heater was leaking, has water in thermostat compartment...

My friend, let me talk to you.

You tell me your machine failed because of mineral deposits. What ever its age, if it failed because of this reason, its life is over.

When you get your new heater, put a note on the side of it that you promise to drain the sediment out of it at least one time per quarter (every 3 months), date and sign it.

And lastly, if I was getting shocked by something that could be replaced for a couple of C notes ... I'd be replacing it for that reason alone. You are asking for trouble. The controls are wet - it is shocking you - it is leaking -- what more can I say.

Tomorrow is Saturday, you might as well get up early and get started.

Probably not what you wanted to hear. For that I am sorry. I hope my insight will help you arrive at a decision.

Say, was that your family I "saw" upstairs. You do want them to be safe and have hot water, right? Ok ... that is it then ...

Let me know what you decide.

I was changing my filter in the ge filtration system, and it says to turn off the water and press the red button. Then it says to unscrew the filter take the old one out and clean the filtrstion system...

The red button is a pressure relieve valve. If the system is leaking from the valve, try pushing the valve up from the underside of the cap where the valve is located. If this does not work the housing needs to be replaced. You do not have to replace this with a name brand like GE. All you need to do is make sure the housing that you are purchasing is the same size.
