Question about Garmin GPS Devices
hpd367 - If your Garmin has died within a year then call them for an RMA number and they will repair/replace it.

Moscow Nell - I had the same problem and got an adaptor from Halfords for about £5.

Okay well have you tried to return the item and see about getting it exchanged for a new one and see if that one works, it's not uncommon for a product that goes down an assembly line to have a few of them that don't work. I would try there and if they don't do anything for you I would call garmin directly.

Connect your Garmin to the computer. Go to http://www8.garmin.com/support/download.jsp then click on mapping updates

This link will let you download ALL the manuals for this Garmin unit, not just the quick start:
I didn't convert it to a Tiny URL, so make sure the whole link shows in your browser.
I would certainly appreciate a FixYa rating from those of you looking for the library, should you deem it appropriate. Thanks!

Question: Why will my nüvi 2xx not find satellite signals?
p>If your nuvi 2xx is not acquiring satellite signals, you may need to download and run our WebUpdater program.
If you are still having issues after updating the software on your unit, you may need to do a full master reset. Please note that a master reset erases Favorites and waypoints. Before proceeding, you may want to back up information you want to keep.
To do a full master reset to the nuvi 200 series unit:
1. Turn off the device.
2. Place your fingertip or the eraser end of a pencil in the bottom right corner of the touchscreen.
3. Apply pressure in the bottom right corner of the screen.
4. While pressing down on the screen, power on the unit and continue pressing on the screen. A message displays to confirm that you really want to delete all user data.
5. Touch Yes.
6. Your unit restarts automatically. You must go through the set up procedure again.
Once you complete the reset, place the nuvi unit outside where it has a clear unobstructed view of the sky for 15-30 minutes. Keep it in a stationary position until it reacquires satellites.

SOURCE: missing software on nuvi 200w
Either send it back to Garman or you might be able to borrow a good friends that has one, hook it to your usb cable and very carefully copy all the files than save to a newly created directory, put your on the usb and then copy and paste to your unit....it might be worth a try. However; I don't know how much of the neccessary startup software is in windows accessable memory. If it's truly the system boot software, which is in a prom chip, (not rewtiteable), the only thing to do is send it back to the factory or throw it away. If it's just a map problem you can change a map by windows software.. The point is not all of the Garman software is windows addressable. It just depends on what part is messed up. It will need all the software to be readable. During an upgrade the neccessary file didn't complete, so maybe , just maybe if you can find an equivelent it will start working again.
