How do i set change password so people cant use my wireless connection

Normally the details for the router is on the back of the device, the IP address, username and password to login to the router.
If not shown google the network provider which will give you the IP address and insert the IP address on the Internet/Chrome browser address bar this will then take you to the website and log on using the provided details then browse through the options for changing the router password.

Hope this helps.

I reset my modem and now i cant get my wifi back on

If your modem pulled a new or different ip address and you did not reset your router it could be trying to use the old IP address and there would be a conflict. IP addresses usually have a lease of 24 hours, S if your IP was refreshed at noon and you reset your mdem and for sopme reason it obtained a new ip address the router would not be able to connect until noon the following day when it tried to refresh. Rebooting the router should cause it to sync back up with the modem and pull the correct IP address. You may need to log into your router and manually release and renew the IP address even after rebooting your router, I have seen a few routers that would still not pull the new address unless this was done.
My preferred method is to unplug power from the router, then reboot the modem. Only after the modem is synced back up do I plug power back into the router, so far this has seemed to work the best.

Limited to no connectivity

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access it then press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router. Then all settings defaults then you can access it with default above ip. Let me know if you need further assistance.
another aspect that could affect connectivity is by checking out the following
If
can you get the ip address of the computer you are using? if it starts with 168...., you may not be able to connect to internet, the right ip address should start with 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.100.here is a test , try to connect your computer direct to the modem, if you can connect, turn on the router reconnect the cable to the router , put back new cable to your computer, if you cant still browse the internet restart your pc, hope this help

UNABLE TO CONNECT WITH MY LAP TOP ON INTERNET HAVE FOUR LIGHTS ON AND FIFTH ONE FLASHING JUST STARTED YESTERDAY.

So that means its working well and connected to the ISP' server. What is your connection? Is it ADSL?
First make sure that all light have the color of green. If they are Flashing with color RED that means the property associated with the light is having a failure.
Here are the description of Colors and Lights.
Modem Light state: Unlit Flashing Red Flashing Green Steady Green
Cases:::
Power Light
Modem is not getting power - no light Modem has failed POST - Red Power is on - Steady Green
Ethernet (2nd Light)
No Ethernet link detected - No light Problem with ethernet port or cable - Flashing Green Modem has detected a successful link to a PC or router - Steady Green
DSL (3rd light)
ADSL sync signal is not detected - Red Modem is trying to synchronize. - Flashing Green Modem has ADSL sync and is ready for PPPoE session traffic - Steady Green.
Internet (4th light)
Modem has given up or isn't configured to initiate the PPPoE session - No Light PPPoE initiation has failed or PPPoE has been terminated. - Red Initiating a PPPoE session to Internet - Flashing Green. Modem is ready for Internet traffic - Steady Green.
Note: This light sometimes not working even if the connection initiated.
Activity
Normal DSL traffic flow - Flashing Green. Steady traffic flow - Steady Green.
Solving problems.
Case1: You have to connect your machine to the Modem Via the Network cable. Plug the other side of the cable to your Machine. (Not the modem port. Network card port.). Case2: You have to make sure that you have installed the Network Card drives. To check that you have to use Device Manager. Follow these steps. Hit Windows key with R In the "Run" box type devmgmt.msc In the right hand side check whether the network card is installed. If it has a yellow exclamation mark or a mark with red that means you haven't either installed or its having a device/driver problem.
Case3: If its fine then what you have to do is to check your network settings. Heres how: Since you haven't specified the Operating System I m including the Windows XP method here. Not much difference in other Operating Systems as well.
  • Get the Control Panel.
  • Go to Network and Internet Connections.
  • Go to Network Connections.
  • Check the Local Area Connection.
  • Right Click and check "Status".
  • If it says connected
  • Check the Duration and Speed(100 or 1000Mbps).
  • If the settings are fine go to "Support" Tab.
  • Check whether the Machine has received an IP Address. Which is often in the range of 192.168.254.xxx for Siemens Modems/Routers.
  • If you see an IP Address which starts from 169.xxx.xxx.xxx your network card was unable to pick an IP Address from the DHCP router which runs in the modem. (If you run a DHCP in the machine you have to configure to stop leasing IP Addresses to your machine from the Router/Modem. You can try the "Repair" button below and it will try to Release and Renew your IP. If it fail either you have a problem with your network card or Modem/Router (Could be the cable also).
  • If you still see the IP Address which starts with 192.168 the connection with your Modem is fine.
  • Next: Right Click on the Local Area Connection again.
  • Go to "Properties".
  • Double Click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  • Check the settings.
  • The settings should be "Obtain IP Addresses Automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically". (But if you know the router's/Modem's IP Address you can configure it and you can give a "Static IP" to your PC as well. It must not be the Router's / Modem's IP and must be in th SAME SUBNET. If router uses 192.168.254.xxx you can assign it as 192.168.254.2)
  • Then Apply the Settings and go to the "Status" again and then click on "Details".
  • Except Wins Server all others must be populated with values in 192.168 range. Check the "Default Gateway" Setting. Its very important that you have pointed the machines Default Gateway to the Router/Modem.
  • Final Check:
  • Go to the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) again and click on "Advanced".
  • Check IP Settings (first tab) too make sure DHCP is enabled on you machine.
  • Go to "Options" tab and Check TCP/IP Filtering. Click on properties and make sure that the Filtering is not enabled. If it enabled make sure your network adapter Permits all routers traffic in to the machine.
By following these options will let you surf the internet.
Check for the behaviors of indicators as well.
Case 3 :Browser settings
In the Internet Explorer go to: Tools -> Internet Options ->Connections -> LAN Settings -> Its fine if any box is not checked. Or you can check the "Automatic Detection".
Last thing is If you have a Firewall or Antivirus Suite Please make sure that you are not blocking adapters and traffic/application. You can try to disable Windows Firewall and check whether it works as well.
Hope this will solve your issue. Please be kind enough to rate the answer with a comment (testimonial) if this helps you to overcome the issue. Feel free to contact us further. Thanks for contacting Fixya

I cant find my wep key. I have a SB5101 motorola router and I have windows XP. I've tried many different ways and I still cant find it. I have a different ip address then most people, so when I enter...

The SB5101 is *not* a router, its a cable modem, much less sophisticated than a router.
It does not provide a local network (192.168.x.x IPs) and no network address translation (mapping the an external IP to local IPs)
Your IP looks unfamiliar because it is a public IP assigned to you by your service provider.

There are no configurable elements provided by this device, it does not have a configuration web interface.

My NAT setting is strict. ive tried everything i know to change it but cant. i have a silver motorola modem wit a black and blue linksys router but i cant figure out how to change the Nat setting. Im...

Microsoft has a support page to help you with your NAT settings. The prescribed solution is to "open" the following ports on your router:
  • UDP 88
  • UDP 3074
  • TCP 3074

1- Using your Browser, Log on to your router (by normally typing in the192.168.1.1 address check your router's manual to see what the defaultgateway address)

2- If you already know how to log in to your router, then skip thisstep. If you have never logged on to your router then more than likelyyou still have the default initial log in credentials (username: admin- Password:1234 ..... Again check your router's manual to be sure). Theminute you log in you need to change that password immediately, mostnetwork-savvy folks know that 90% of the people out there never resettheir router's initial password and they can log on and make anychanges to suit their needs, including locking you out of your ownrouter.

3- Once you are logged in click on sercruity, scroll tot he bottom and make sure "Filter Internet NAT Redirection" is set to "disabled" ,

4. now click on advanced routing
make sure
Nat is enabled.

5. now click on applications and gaming.

you should be able to find two advance settings (One if for NAT - and the other is for Upnp)

4- Let's start with the NAT setting changes, and we will edit theUpnp settings at the end.

6- You will need to find out what the static/dynamic (preferablyStatic) IP address you xbox360 has. To do so, go to the Dashboard, goto the Console settings page, and click on the network settings to seethe IP address (should be something like 192.168.1.x). You will needthat IP address to enter into your NAT table on your router.

7- Once you got your XBOX's IP address enter it in the NAT PortForwarding table (From - To - IP address:)

8 - In the first line enter 88 under both "From" and To" fields, thenenter the IP address of the xbox in the field where you are to enter anIP address. (this is for UDP port)

9 - Repeat the same step for port TCP (which is 3074)

10- If these changes do not help open your NAT settings, then try theUpnp option. Click on your Upnp Advances settings enter the same information with the ip, and make sure UDP are enabled and checked for. use the port #s for your info as well in the chart. you can name them what ever u want under the application column.
  • UDP 88
  • UDP 3074
thend o the same for

TCP 3074
just make sure the tcp is checked and not udp.

if that doesnt work we can do a full reset on your router.

Reset for most routers with a reset button on the rear panel
Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, securitykeys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The defaultusername is admin and the password is either password or 1234. Try these before resetting the router.)
  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the smallbutton is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
  4. Log in with the default password. If the router configuration was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
  5. Unplug the router's power.
  6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  8. Wait for the router to reboot.
  9. Log in with the default password.
please rate me, and mark this fixya if it has helped.

set your ip setting to "Obtain an IP address automatically", then plug your ethernet cable to your system, once connected, open a command prompt then type 'ipconfig' (w/o ""). your IP add, subnet mask & default gateway will display. take note, the default gateway is the ip address of your router.

Assign a static IP address to the 360, then go into your router's setting and set a DMZ for that static IP.
