When you refill your old ink cartridges; you should do it while there is still a little ink in them. If you let them run bone dry the ink inside will often solidify and gum up the cartridge. Sometimes letting it sit with new ink in it eventually resaturates the dry ink and it resolves itself. But this is not by far a stead fast rule.
