Thanks for your help there Steve. I actually did try that. Yes, other devices worked fine. I ended up first of all putting them in the front using a usb extension then decided to try this in the back. This 'seems' to have helped but caused another smaller issue with not seeing some of the plugins. Once i selected the correct audio card driver, then again, it seems to work.

Take care and thanks for contacting me!!! :-)

9 in1 media card reader was an option on Dell Demension 3100. If you have this reader installed, it would be in the slot right above the front head phone jack with 4 thin slot opening to insert different type of memory cards. If you don't have this you need to by a external usb reader - as low as $1.00 from ebay for basic SD card reader.

I don't know where to insert a card from a Polaroid camera into my Compaq CPU?

You may not have a direct slot.
Did the camera come with a down load cable?
Or pick up a multi reader that plugs into your USB connection to down load

This has happened once before and I think Windows XP fixed itself after some time, but I don't know how. While transferring files onto a 4gig flash drive, I got an error message that one file could not be...

I have seen USB ports fried like this, by USB devices. It can render them usesless.

What you can try, is go to the Device Manager, and uninstall the USB ports there. Then go up to Scan for hardware changes. That should automatically reinstall the drivers, in case they got hosed.

If that still does not work, they may be dead. I have seen it where even a device light works, which means there is power on the USB port, but the communications part does not work.

In a desktop PC, you can get an add in PCI card, and route the ports to the front, that is a possible fix for you.

I have a Technics KN550 and I was wondering if it could connect to a PC

The Technics KN550 has a midi out, so all you need is either a midi to game port or now you can buy midi to USB cables. If you are thinking about this seriously, then you're going to need some sort of arrangement software. Have a look at Cubase which is now the industry standard for PC's. It used to be Logic Platinum but Apple bought them out and they only release software for the Mac now.
The good thing about midi is that once you get into it a bit, and make your own samples or have a sample bank on your PC, you can use use your keyboard to trigger any of those samples, so your keyuboard suddenly becomes every instrument under the sun.
You can find cables by clicking here and read about Cubase by clicking here.
