Question about Sylvania 6413TC 13" TV

3 Answers

Color Tv I have a 20 year old Sylvania TV in my bedroom. I don't use it a lot, but when I do, there is a low buzzing sound coming from the speaker. It does not seem to affect the audio, that sounds normal. Any ideas?? I have an electronics background, so I might be able to fix it myself, once I can narrow down the problem. Thanks, Greg.

I believe your'e right, now that I think about it, it always has had a very low buzz, but seems to be getting louder with age. Oh well, 20 years old and still a great picture, it's far outlived most sets. Thanks!!!

Try first to Mute the television and check if the buzzing sound will be gone , because if its gone that can be a problem with the sound part of your unit, but if the buzz is still there and the television is on mute, consider the buzz as a strange sound in one channel sio check if the buzz is still there when you switch channel .Sounds like wind blowing, or leaves rustling? That can be the wiring problem .

Hope that helps............

Buzzing nois of this kind can come from a short or from disturbance.

Check that you do not have any electric device near to the phone that can cause electric disturbance, such as a power adapter or a large appliance.
Eventually move TV to a different place to check if the problem persist.
If the buzz is not because of electric disturbance, then it can be a short on speaker cables inside tv, a short on audio area of TV pcb board, or a bad component on pcb, for example a faulty audio chipset or a burnt capacitor. In this last case, in order to fix the problem, the TV must be taken apart and component on board tested using multimeter. This job should be performed by a TV technician.

Well im not sure what can be done about it, our tvs also have a little buzz in them, my laptop also has a background buzz very silent one, if I plug my headphones directly into my computer, I get the same buzz from there also, but when I plug my headphones into my lcd screen there is no buzz, there seems to be somekind of a filter or amp which filters the buzz out and the sound is clear.

this is not really a fix, but I feel the buzz is normal, I suppose it could be cleared out by somekind of a filter or amp between the source and the speaker.

It may also be interference from other electronic devices around the television but since its in the bedroom I suppose you don't have many electronic devices in there, also bad signal might make it louder.

Sylvania SRT2232S 32" was working

The problem is in the vertical deflection circuits which is responsible for giving a full picture. Since the set is 8 years old the money would be better spent on a new tv since more frequent break downs in other parts of the set would be more likely due to age.

I do not have a Zenith B25A02Z TV. What I do have is a 1988 Zenith Color TV SE2517P. I called a local tv repairman and discussed the problem over the phone. He can take a look at it if we bring it in (service call to the home cost $100 just to show up). He said it was worth fixing since he thought it was only the sound. We have a great picture. He charges $20 to look at it but we have to leave it. He lives 20 minutes away one way. We think it is worth the trip if we can get it loaded into our minivan. We live in western NY where the weather can get pretty ugly many days. I will post the solution later when I know. FYI

Hi! Simple question; answer hard to find. Does a Sylvania 6520FDF (20" color TV/DVD, purchased new in late 2006 or early 2007) need a digital converter box? Thanks for any assistance. Bruce

BRUCETYRE::
unless the information that comes with the tv says it is digital ready, NO!! and you will need a converter box.The reason is that for almost two years before the conversion, the /tv people knew what was going to happen and they were getting rid of the 'old' stock. The TV must say it is digital ready.
p.s. I looked it up for you...SORRY!!
"" The manufacturer has informed us that this model has been discontinued. However, it might still be available for sale.""
p.s.s. Now I know for sure that it is not digital ready...get the converter box.

Make sure it is not a problem with the DTV reciever first by connecting up another smaller TV set to that reciver. if it is the TV set for sure, a cheap fix would be to run the audio outputs of the DTV reciever to a small stereo or a powered speaker. Good Luck
