Question about Lexmark E232 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Second light from the top is on.

After I installed the toner the second light from the top is still on. It looks like half a square with dots inside and a back slash then a circle with dots in it. Why isn't it going out?
Thanks for your assistance

2300dl toner problems

Unfortunalely printers and there drivers estimate toner life buy counting the amount of dots draws on the pages. Say a cartridge is rated for 3000000 dots when new, the printer will know after printing 1500000 dots that the cartridge is about half full. If you replace a cartridge the printer will assume it's new as the ID tag will be different from the last cartridge. There really isn't any way of modifying or specifying the age of a cartridge. You will just have to keep using it until you start seeing drop outs on the page, then you will know it is almost empty. Shaking it a few times will usualy help stretch the life of a cartridge.

Black dots are printing on the left hand side of the page when I print from my hp laserjet 1015. Any ideas how to fix this?

Run a "half test". Put paper in the manual feed tray. Print anything. Watch the paper, when it feeds about 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover. Pull out the toner and look down at the paper. If it has the dots, replace the toner. If it doesn't have dots, the fuser is probably bad.

Brother HL-2035 laser printer, black dots appearing down right side of paper, 3" apart, after changing toner and cleaning wire.

Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are due to dirty/ deteriorating cartridge and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines.
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and ther is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

On an OKI C3400 the alarm lights blinks amber once a second. Cannot print status page. Replaced black toner and drum and re-installed other colors with no change.

THIS SOLUTION IS FOR AN OKI C3400N ONLY

As I'm sure you know, that blinking amber light indicates that:
  1. A toner lock is not fully "locked", or
  2. A toner is empty, or
  3. A drum is empty or near empty
The first question should be what does your C3400 monitor software tell you is wrong? I am assuming it said the black toner and/or drum needed to be changed - so you are fairly certain it is the black that is where the problem is? You may also have run the report from the printer that you get by pressing the "On-line" button and seen what is failing.

Assuming that is the case, and one or both of these signals an empty black toner, the problem may be in the new black toner cartridge. You can try this:
  1. Make sure the toner "lock" on all toners is fully engaged - assuming they are

  1. Open the top
  2. Lift out the entire black assemble including the toner and drum components.
  3. Keeping the assembly in the same orientation as you lifted it out, look on the RIGHT end.
  4. You should see two metal contact points, near the top at about the same level as the top of the toner.
  5. Just below these contact, you should see a small, rectangular hole - about 1/4" square.
  6. If you look in there you may see what looks like a small piece of black plastic that covers the hole from inside.
  7. If so, take a small pointed object (like a bent paper-clip) and gently reach in the hole and touch the small plastic piece on the inside that is covering the hole.
  8. You should be able to gently lift that piece of plastic UP.
  9. You may have to try lifting it a time or two, but it should stay UP if you have a new black toner installed.
  10. Once you have it UP carefully reinstall the assembly.
  11. Close the top and let the printer recycle.
  12. You may need to try this a couple of times to get the plastic to stay up on your new toner.
So you understand, here is what may be happening. That little piece of black plastic actually sits in line with a sensor in the printer that monitors toner / drum levels. When a new toner is placed in, that piece of plastic should be UP, so the sensor can monitor the level. As the toner gets used, the plastic liece gradually falls down until it completely blocks the sensor - indicating the toner is empty. That is how the monitoring software knows how to signal you.

This has worked for me several times - most especially when I tried using non-OKI OEM 'compatible" toners - but no guarantees this will help you

Pink stream of dots running half way across page left to right

the pink spot you have seen is a residual magenta toner drops from the developing assy, either ther is too much toner accumulated in the drum unit, or within the viccinity.

removed the magenta u nit, and clean all toner, removed the drum if you can and vacuum the cleaning unit that scrape off toner from the drum, chances are this area is full of toner that has stucked, carefully install the drum unit and test

so as far as your transfer unit, very rare cases that this would contribute to that prob, but ensure that you put all connectors tightly and if there is any electrical connectivity that you recently seen, secure this parts correctly..

hope this helps and remember to mark this pls

Recurring error

This answer was almost exactly correct:

>hey guys, for the "printer mispick" problem, try to remove the >toner and look IF there's any paper jam inside, because this >solved my problem,..
>=open toner door
>=remove the toner
>=look carefully IF there's any paper stuck between roller
>=CAUTION - carefully and gently remove the paper if so, as it >will be a nightmare if half tear off and the half end will be more >difficult to remove,...

The only thing I did differently, that worked like a charm, was to =open the door on the other side of the machine, and
=swing down the two green levers (one on each side); this released the roller tension and removal of the paper was easy.
=Once the paper has been gently removed, put back up the two green levers, and
=close everything up, re-installing the toner cartridge as you do.
