Nikon Coolpix L11 camera

Trying to upload photos from my Nikon cool pix L11 camera to my hard drive. I installed the ProjectCD that came with the camera. Installed fine. But it will not transfer the photos, It says not connected. Also noticed it said it could find the driver L11.

Thanks, but can you tell me where to check to see if it is on PC mode? My manual that came with the camera is in Spanish. Thanks.

    Tried everything over the weekend.

Now maybe I am thinking if it could be my USB port not working.

I used a jump drive to see if I could download my photos and I could not see that either.

I did try setting the camera to Mass Storage, when Picture Project comes us it sames camera is Not Connected. I tried Removing the Picture Project software also and still cannot see where the camera is connected. I am still on Windows 98, could that be the problem??

FIND THE USB OPTION IN YOUR CAMERA MENU AND SELECT MASS STORAGE OPTION, THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO CONNECT & VIEW THE PHOTOS LIKE A REMOVABLE HARD DRIVE OR JUMP DRIVE

Did you check if also your camera is set to the PC mode?
Try this:
plug in the cabel, check if camera is set to PC mode than turn it on, chances are than your software will recognize the camera.

By the way, if you have a cardreader it is most of times faster to simply take the card from your camera and insert it in the reader.

Normally you have a selecting wheel on top of your camera where you select auto, portrait, sports ect, there should be something like PC or a small blue triangle.

Do you run win98 or win98 SE?
Win98 is known to have poor USB support and that might indeed be the cause. Check if your BIOS is up to date and supports USB, ifso, check Microsoft knowledge database which contains some patches for USB support for win98.

Can I retrieve pictures back to chip after uploading to computer? I accidently hit delete from chip when I shouldnt

You should be able to. Use your photo-processing software, bring up each image, choose "save as" and save them back on the chip as the destination. There's no particular reason to do this, however, as the photos will not improve in resolution beyond their state on the computer. It's easier just to back them up on a USB drive or external hard drive if you just want "insurance" copies.

Drivers for nikon coolpix camera L11

You don't need a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa.
