Whenever I try to turn on my xbox 360 I get a red ring around the power button.

These red leds(also know as the red ring of death or RROD) around the power button is a way for the xbox to tell you that something is wrong. Different combinations usually have to do with different errors. I recommend that you send it to a repair shop or back to microsoft if the warranty is still good. Don't forget to give them any relevant information and which leds were flashing. Also an error code would help them alot.

An incomplete red ring circle appeared

Three flashing red lights around the Xbox 360 power button (nicknamed the "Red Ring of Death" or "Red Lights of Death" or "Red Ring of Doom"), instead of the one to four green lights indicating normal operation, represent an internal problem that requires service. Warning signs may include freeze-ups, graphical problems in the middle of gameplay, such as checkerboard or pinstripe patterns on the screen, and sound errors, and the console only responds to pressing the power button to turn it off. These events may happen once or several times until the hardware failure occurs, or not at all. If the console freezes occasionally, the error will not necessarily follow. The technical problems seem to affect some generations of consoles more than others. e.g. Xbox 360 60GB This error code is usually caused by failure of one or more hardware components, although it can indicate that the console is not receiving enough power from the power supply, which can either be due to a faulty power supply or if the power supply cable is not fully inserted into the console. The 3 flashing lights can also be caused by power surges; if the console is connected to an outlet that receives a power surge, it may have a failure and the 3 lights will appear as long as the console is plugged into the outlet. Turning off the console, unplugging all power cables and plugging them back in, and restarting the console will fix the issue in this case.

I HAVE THE MERLIN PHONE SYSTEM 820D2 I WOULD LIKE TO SILENCE CERTAIN NUMBERS FROM RINGING. HOW DO I DO THAT?

Now that's an oldie :-) I have the instructions squirreled away right here

Here's how to program line ringing:

• go to the voice terminal whose line ringing you want to program

• slide T/P switch toward you

• touch a line button (note red lights)

• touch the button again until correct code appears:

RED ON = Ring

RED FLASH = Delayed Ring

RED OFF = No Ring

• repeat this procedure for each line

• return T/P switch to center position.

XBox 360 does not work. Red ring around the start button.

You have what is called the "red ring of death." This was a huge problem with the 360 when they first came out. Essentially, your box overheated and died. If it is still under warranty, you can call support and tell them what the problem is and they will most likely replace it. Otherwise, it's time for a new box. Sorry

I HAVE 4 RED RING WHEN I TURN ON MY XBOX

Four lights around the power button flash red on your Xbox 360 console. Four flashing lights indicates that the console does not detect an audio/video (AV) cable.
Note Four flashing red lights will not appear on consoles that have both an AV port and an HDMI port.

Game freezes and dots appear on screen

I hate to break it to you, but you may have gotten the Red Ring Of Death. It happens when playing a game and it is transmitted through online play through Xbox Live. 3 red lights will appear around the power button when your console has become infected. The Red Ring of Death may have infected your console causing it to shut down. Most Xbox 360 consoles won't turn back on but some do turn back on but they just won't play games, they will freeze up and have the dotted lines and make the buzzing noise. I'm sorry, but I think you may need a new console. You're in luck if it's still under warranty. Hope this helps!!!!

Xbox wont turn on

RRD - Red ring of death, caused by the processor recieving to much heat.
Ebay.com sell tools to fix this but I am unable to gaurentee anything.
If its going around in a circle flashing then that is your problem.
The fix kits on the net run about 20 dollars and take 30-45 min to do..
and include instructions on how to use the toold, and place the new heat washers
heat silicon silver and how to put back together.
Youtube.com also has videos on how to repair.

Good luck

3 red lights

It's called the red ring of death. Usually means that your system is bad, but I would not go that far yet. If usually the red rings go all the way around. Have you tried to make sure that all the cords on the back were pluged in correctly and tight?
