These printers can use a B&W cartridge and a color cartridge, or two color cartridges for enhanced color. I believe when you switch these it is supposed to detect automatically and change it in the driver settings. If it isn't the case for what ever reasonhowever, you should still be able to set it manually in the printer properties. If this fails, just try turning off the printer, unplugging the printer and moving it to another USB port, and turning it back on. Maybe you need to kick start the detection process.
