Not exactly sure what your question is, but there are a several reasons as to how and why a gas grill will catch on fire. And almost all the reasons, boil down to one thing - a lack of proper routine maintenance (i.e. Regular and frequent cleaning of the grill, checking the grill hose and regulator for leaks, keeping the grill a minimum of 6' from exterior walls when in use and turning OFF the gas tank when not in use).

I'm truly sorry, you had such a frightening experience, but in 86% of the cases, operator error is the cause.

I am scared to death of gas grills -- nearly burned my hair and eyebrows off years ago -- husband always lights it -- he's out of town -- how do I light a Weber gas grill?

Be sure your outdoors in the open. Be sure that the cover is off. Use a large match stick (fire place)or a butane grill lighter to burn the gas. Place the lite match/lighter to the burner head and open the gas bottle. After 6 seconds, If the burner head does not light shut the gas bottle off. Try again till it lights.

I put in a new full propane tank tonight, and the grill seems not to be getting any gas. The valve is open and it worked fine last night. Any suggestions?

Ericksen,
Pull your burners out. Make sure the gas is off at the tank.
At the bottom of the burners there is a pipe with little doors, If those doors are closed all the way, Open them half way and they usually have a locking screw. tighten screws and put back together.
When doors are closed, only gas is expelled. Without air it is less flameable. You need air and gas to create a fire.

The wire on my grill caught fire. Now it will not light. What can I do?

You'll need to replace the igniter wire switch assembly. you can usually find them at the hardware store pretty cheap. follow the instructions and make sure the wire is properly shielded from the heat.

I need directions for using a weber grill

Open the bottom vent, open the top vent. Start your charcoal in a chimney starter (my favorite way). Dump in the burning charcoal. Wipe down grill grate with canola or other high temp oil. Place grate on grill, cover, set top and bottom vents to desired temp. Cook food. Cleanup.
