Well, my Aspire One d260 will not get power from the adapter. Not only will not charge the battery, but it does not recognize when I plug in the adapter. In other words, if I were to take the battery out and try to turn it on while plugged in, it would not turn on because it is NOT receiving power. I wanted to try the bios update before I ordered a new power cord, but the software that installs this update, will not work if the computer is running on battery power--in other words, it needs to be plugged in. Is this a bios problem or do I need a new adapter, or could it be something else? Thanks, and I hope this gets responded to soon, my power's running low.

Hi there,
This issue is going on quite a lot but It seems to me that currently there is no choice but to try a known good working adapter. Because the BIOS wont update or Flush(if you would install the same version) without the AC adapter.
Faced a lot of this issues with DELL laptops so hopefully the replacement adapter would work.

Battery low, dont't start

just a bit of sage advice. most of us men don't bother to read the instruction manuals but I finally did out of boredom. this really works. when you first get your new laptop or replace the battery, competely charge the battery before you use it. then completely drain it or wait the low battery indicator comes on then again plug it in and let it fully charge then fully deplete. patience will pay off. this needs to be repeated a total of three time. I get about three hours out of mine now that I so this.

Battery plugged in, not charging on acer aspire 7745

Could be you got a bad replacement battery. Are you able to try the battery in a different laptop that uses it? Also check the power adapter. Another is check the connectors in the battery bay and see if any are corroded or damaged..

Try wiggling the plug around a bit to see if you can get contact. You could also try borrowing a power supply if you know someone with the same machine to isolate the problem.

My acer aspire one D260 wont charge, the wall adaptor is in but not charging

  • Turn the computer off
  • Unplug the computer
  • Remove the battery
  • Plug in the power cord
  • Power on the computer
If it powers up, you have a battery problem; It is either the battery or the charging circuit. Replacing the battery is easy and not too expensive. Fixing the charging circuit on a laptop is not economical.

Hope this helps. I do this for fun & 4 thumb feedback, not $$$

I have an Acer Aspire one NAV50 travelmate adapter but I don't have a plug. Is there anyway I can get the plug separately?

Are you talking about the cord that goes from the adapter to the wall? If so, any electronics supply store like Radio Shack should be able to source it. If not you can try DIGIKEY.com.

My Acer aspire 4935 is not recognizing the AC adapter. When ever I shutdown the system and connects the AC adapter, it works and the charging LED lights up. Once I press the power button to boot the...

Problem description:The battery charges only when the laptop turned off. The battery charge LED lights up as normal and the battery gets charged to 100% while the laptop is off.
When the laptop is turned on, the battery charge LED goes off even if the adapter is still plugged in.
Possible cause:1. AC power adapter failure.
2. Battery failure.
3. Broken/loose power jack.
4. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:1. This problem could be related to a faulty AC power adapter. It's possible that the AC adapter doesn't provide enough power when plugged into the laptop. To find out if this is your problem, you'll have to test the laptop with another working adapter.Replace the adapter if needed.

2. There is a slight chance that you have bad battery. Test the laptop with a know good battery and replace the faulty one if needed.

3. The battery charge problem could be related to the power jack. Maybe the jack is broken or not making good contact with the motherboard. It is necessary to remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. Resolder or replace the jack if needed.

4. If the power jack is in a good working shape and new power adapter with battery do not fix the problem, most likely you have a faulty motherboard. Replace the motherboard if needed.
