Question about Samsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Was watching tv this morning and all of a sudden it went off just like i turned it off. no picture or sound. what is the problem and what could be the cost to fix it
Total b/s the fact that it came on again has nothing to do with your"repairman" ps watch out for
experts who try to lose you with complicated terms it turned itself off because a certain component was
overheating with these sets its either a.. the convergence ic (a chip that controls the size and shape of the picture) or b...a power regulating ic or transistor
yes true you are now on borrowed time but not two weeks the time from when you turn it on to shutdown will get shorter and shorter i would advise you not to use the set untill its fixed so nothing else is damaged
the repair should cost about $300 or so get a more straightforward tech if you wish to do it

We had a repairman tell us that it was the projector light and meter that it would cost over $500 to fix. He reset a timer and said it would give us another 2 wks before the light would go out. Does this sound right to anyone?

SOURCE: No Picture no sound.
If you are a qualified technician then you can try removing the flyback transformer FBT and have it check thru a flyback checker from any electronic repair shop. You will be able to confirm whether you have a problem in the high voltage section. Which would likely is the case. If FBT is OK look for a shortgae in the horizontal section specially the horizontal output transistor. good luck

SOURCE: i have a samsung 19in
if you were using the tv on digital mode then it may just have been lack of signal, if not then make sure all the cables in the back of the tv are securely in the sockets.
