SOURCE: oven problem
Dear Sir, Simply put, the reason why an element can short out the clock/eoc/digital display is because unlike most other electronics, elements on a range work off a higher voltage. 240 volts. that's why the breaker in your basement is a double breaker. the element normally has 120 volts to it at all times, and when you press bake on your clock or turn your oven on, another set of 120 volts goes to the other side of the element, creating that warm red glow on the element and allowing your oven to heat. if the element blows out and shorts to the chassis of the oven, you risk damaging any other electrical componenet. As this may seem not fair, it's better than encasing the element in something, shorting out and causing a huge electrical fire. When the element shorts out and there is no ground for the current to follow, it's just like welding some metal together and very dangerous.

I would go to the manufacturer's website:
and type in the 'part number'.
The above link is for their store. I don't have this appliance and i don't know if the definitely replace it. ut I figured you could at least start here.
Hope this helps!!

Hi- If everything worked when stored, problem could be simple. The keypad is linked to the computer with a ribbon connector. The plug may have gotten corroded a bit in storage. Try this first: Unplug power. Remove back panel to access control. Remove four screws holding control. Unplug and inspect connector. Clean with a toothbrush and compressed air if you have it. Plug connector back in, re-assemble, and see if touchpad works. Let me know if this info helps. Have more if needed. - Ed
